Aw poo, of course this would be on the second page of the thread D:
Yes, the zip cured the runtime errors! :)
But, yeah the audiosurf icon is now the ugly questviewer one.

I was having this exact same problem, so I applied the fix, and now whenever I try to start, it says "Questviewer.Exe has stopped working"! Help!

There's been an update on Steam regarding this problem, please update your game via Steam and check if you still have the problem...

Go to the games page, right click on Audiosurf, click properties, click the update tab, make sure it says "always keep this game up to date".

It's already like that to begin with, and I still get that error! Now what?

I had the Runtime Error after applying the update. I went the delete Audiosurf from Steam route as mentioned and then reinstalled. Works perfectly now and only takes a few minutes to complete with a decent broadband speed. I have cable  ;) The new install gives you a different shortcut icon on your desktop too.  :)

I had the same problem. No need to delete the game, just ask steam to verify the game cache.

Asked Steam to verify, let it do its little updating thing, and I'm still getting the string of runtime errors, although the game appears to work fine.

When the game starts up, what color is the icon up in the top left corner of the window?

If the icon isn't this:
http://media.steampowered.com/steamcommunity/public/images/apps/12900/ae6d0ac6d1dd5b23b961d9f32ea5a6c8d0305cf4.jpg

then Steam hasn't updated you to the latest version for some reason.

While AS wasn't properly being updated for me (I kept getting the R6304 error), a reinstall of the game did fix it.

HOWEVER, after a reinstall, it still show the old icon instead of the one you linked there. (I made sure to clean out any version of the old still present). Not a big deal, just an oddity. (the icon does show properly on the pop-up notification when it's done updating though)
