My modified .ash-songs
« on: June 09, 2009, 05:16:01 am »
Hi!
In order to make it easier for people to find all modified .ash-songs that I made, here is a list. I will update it in the future as I make more of them.
Remember, to use the modified tracks, move the .ash file to your "Steam\steamapps\common\audiosurf\engine\audiosurfHC" folder.

Superdifficult challenges

Eurofighter - the "classic" superdifficult challenge. It's fun not only with Mono, but also with Pusher, and even Pointman and DVE.
http://www.audio-surf.com/forum/index.php/topic,4153.0.html

Ballade of blocks - used to be superdifficult, but since the color flashes have been removed, it's basically very similar to Eurofighter (however, if you still have an old version of Audiosurf somewhere, play it on this old version and the color flashes will work properly!) Also, the top score of 522k appears to be cheated, since due to the [as-monopt1] tag the few colored blocks in the track are not sufficient to get this score...

Invasion of the reds - this one is a bit different, and mostly aimed at DVE. Apparently you can also use other input devices than the keyboard for the left ship, which was not really intended by me  ;)

An Alien song - if you prefer "regular" tracks, this song is for you, as this is the most difficult challenge so far without speed bursts or color flashes. Unfortunately many people failed to use the modified .ash-file on this song (which can seen by some subtle differences of the track shape), so the score board is quite polluted.

Final Audacity - Basically this is an even more difficult version of "An Alien Song", with a song which sounds like a Trance version of the song of "The Ballade of blocks". Also, due to some precautions the scoreboard should be significantly less polluted by people who fail to use the modified .ash-file, and it should be much easier to identify them.

Mixes:
Trance seven - 7 trance songs of increasing difficulty mixed into one big track, with modified ashes to make the last songs really difficult
http://www.audio-surf.com/forum/index.php/topic,4134.0.html

Trance Trance revolution - Similar to Trance seven, except that it starts out fast, but doesn't become too hard in the end. Also, the music is even more intense and faster

Good to see these consolidated. Hopefully itll rassle up some more competition too.

That 520k score was posted back when the engine flare still occured as well... about as close to impossible to stealth as a song can get, neverminding the score being way over the maximum available for the track.

They should sticky this lol. I hope you keep making more. Trance Seven is my favorite so far. (music wise) I had that playing for hours when I wasn't in audiosurf. more more more~~

Yes, that is really the best of the best of Trance, for me as well. I may not be able to top this... but I will make more mixes and challenges anyway.

Yupp, I remember you making the suggestion at some point. Makes a lot of sense really.

id like to see the tracklists on your trance mixes if you dont mind :P

also, check out my mixes.  i dont know how good you are at mixing (havnt given them a listen) but maybe we could team up my mixing with your ash file making.

Sure, why not. I played your mix "e" once and liked it. To find a list of the songs I used, just download the files and look at the comment-tag of the file. (Due to copyright, etc., whoknowswhat... but maybe noone cares, saying the song titles outright seems to work for your mixes)
My mixing skills are fairly basic, I use Sony Vegas. When mixing two songs, I usually pay more attention to the harmony (as in, if it doesn't match I may speed up one song by 1 semitone or simply not use that song), than to the rhythm, but I make sure there is no mixup between two different rhythms. Of course, I also select and sort songs so that the result is interesting, both the music and the Audiosurf track. And I use Ogg-files because they are more space efficient, and you avoid the different-ash-for-different-computers problem - although that doesn't apply in case of modified ashes, of course.

Maybe, before you release your next mix, send me a link first, and let me create an .ash file for you. Also, I am always interested in new interesting music, in particular trance/dance/eletronic music, and your style seems at least similar to what I like.

Should have stealth vids of eurofighter and ballade soonish... assuming these hyperspeed tracks remain playable with fraps running, that is.

Pics related~ (btw, the best cluster score is a 20+ chain m21... and just look at that leet skill rating!)
