Discussion / Re: Control method argument...
« on: November 13, 2008, 01:50:51 pm »
You guys are weird. I use the number keys 1-3, with < and > taking the place of mouse buttons. Seems to me like there's nothing more precise than that.

If not for this control method, I'd use the mouse, but it seems like there would be plenty occasions where I'm just barely in one lane when trying to be in another.

And weighed against the number keys, it seems like you'd just cripple yourself using the arrows. No matter how fast you can double-tap to get from one end to the other, it's not as fast as the single press made with the numbers.
Finally! Just finally, of all the people...!  :o

I also use the number buttons, including both § and 4 while using the mouse buttons. When I feel like it, I would also prefer to the mouse just to add some variety for fun.

It wasn't a long time ago I had this problem and managed to solve it.
Check if the Audiosurfprodder folder contains a folder named "tempsongs". I noticed in my report that the program didn't find a file in that supposed folder, so I created the "tempsongs" folder inside and it works.

(At least that's what I remember doing it)

Feature Requests / Re: Multi-song ride
« on: November 07, 2008, 07:59:50 am »
I would also like to see this. It would be especially useful for CDs like Exodus by Andy Hunter where the songs tend to blend together with no dead space between them.
That's great! I also know plenty of albums that tend to have songs flowing between each other.

I've got another suggestion to adapt to this multi-song ride function and it's about the AudioSurf Radio. The first post had been updated:
Quote
  • When entering the Radio menu, there should be functions that let you choose to ride a number of featured songs, whether in default or in fixed arrangement. Selecting all those songs and you'll ride them all without bothering to return to the menu before you've rode them all. The songs will be downloaded in case you haven't done this already, but I guess you'll have to wait before you can ride them all.
  • The score results will work the same way (see the first post).

Although it's nothing more than a suggestion I've thought out, I would die for getting this multi-ride function added!  :P

I've tried out the AudiosurfProdder add-on, but every time I add a song in the browser, I get this error message saying "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application" and "Could not load file or assembly 'Id3Lib, Version=0.2.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies" etc.

I have the details it provided me with.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I'd be thankful if you helped me out here.

It takes an exaggerative true audiophile or a smart-ass to notice the 3 kbps difference and get disappointed in the end.

Sweden has got some players, much more on popular songs, but it lacks real competition. I topped them all as far as I could remember.

Discussion / Re: Can somebody *clearly* explain chaining?

Geez, since Audiosurf has been released, I never noticed there was a bar that shows the chaining...  :o

In order to avoid the confusion of the great amounts of requests, I believe there should be a database on the sites counting how many people have requested which artists etc.

Besides, it's only a copyright question for Dylan & Co.

I'll be really looking forward to this new feature! I really hope could implement this utility or do it his own way!

Keep up the good work!

Troubleshooting / Re: Bad Framerate
« on: October 02, 2008, 05:13:09 am »
If you want to figure out which program causes Audiosurf to lag, press CTRL+Alt+Del, click on the "process" tab (the second tab) and find the program that uses the most of the CPU (besides Audiosurf). If you can, make sure that it won't run on the start-up, in case it does.

I use the shield and sword!

I mean, go with the numbers (1-4 + §) on the keyboard while using the mouse buttons. I have made great accomplishments with such preferences.  :)

Here is an answer from a stickied thread.
Playback error 44:
Chances are the song you're trying to play is DRM-protected (ripped from CD?). Audiosurf cannot load songs that are DRM-protected, try Tunebite, which you can try for free here: http://tunebite.com/en/remove_drm/
And in another case...
Quote
I know my songs aren't protected, but they still won't play
There doesn't seem to be a simple solution to this, but a couple of people have solved it by installing codec packs to decode the mp3/wma/whatever data. I'd suggest starting with the CCCP audio/video codec pack, and posting here if that doesn't work for you. It's often quite a bit different from PC to PC, and it depends on chains of filters that are often quite different because of other software you've installed. One solution for the admins (if they're reading this) is to just say the hell with it and package the LAME decoder with the game, so that mp3 tracks can always be decoded no matter what the system has.
Possible solution:
Download and install the CCCP audio/video codec pack, then close Steam completely and restart the game (You may be required to restart your computer after installing the CCCP anyway, depending on settings).

It makes no sense why Audiosurf needs the songs to be over 2.5 minutes long. I have played songs much shorter than that.
