Troubleshooting / Re: Lets see if you guys can solve this.

Does WMP11 come with MP3 codecs? Sounds like you're lacking completely.

WMP 11 comes with the Fraunhofer MP3 codec -- it's pretty much the industry standard.

Troubleshooting / Re: Microsoft Windows 7 beta

uhhhhhhhhh which gpu do you have?

http://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&questionID=39069

If you were asking me, it's ATI AIW-9700 Pro -- and no, there aren't any Windows 7 beta drivers from ATI which work with it -- and their Vista drivers for it don't work with Windows 7 beta either.

Songs / Re: Hour long trance mixes built for audiosurf

Thanks for posting these. I had a blast playing mix E. Gotta admit it was pretty depressing when I hit a grey 45 minutes in while playing it on mono pro though. ::)

Same thing here -- OUCH! :)

I'm running the Windows 7 beta and all of my many games work just fine with it.

But -- ATI hasn't issued a set of drivers for my GPU for Windows 7 beta yet and I have to use the drivers from Microsoft.

Discussion / Re: Interview with Dylan
« on: January 21, 2009, 02:09:06 pm »
Great interview -- and it would have been that even had he not mentioned me at all!

I'm looking forward to playing this game forever and that's something that really can't be said of any other game. Well...at least by me, that is.

Is there another dev out there who actually pays attention to what the players are saying with as much personal endeavor as Dylan? Maybe, but they must be on the Endangered Species List.

In the article, Dylan mentions the menu and the character designs being done by others -- isn't the menu Lebeth's work? And whoever designed the characters for the menu has a great style -- they're unique. They'd make great keychain fobs. :)

My only quibble is that Dylan should've called the 'Visualizer' the 'FesterIzer.' :D

I can't tell you that the same thing happens with MP3 files, but here is a solution for a problem I've had (and other people also) which corrected the same kind of problem for tunes on CDs not being identified properly:

http://www.audio-surf.com/forum/index.php/topic,4405.0.html

If you follow my directions there your WMP database will be rebuilt (it's non-destructive) -- if it was corrupted it might have some bearing on your problem.

Troubleshooting / Re: Delayed Slowdown/unsync

Ad-Aware does have a service which runs in the background -- even in the free version.
Why they feel the need to have a service for the free version which doesn't even do anything in realtime is beyond me.

I think it's called aawservice in the Services list.

In Windows Explorer, right-click on the song file, select "Properties" then the "Summary" tab.
View the Summary in "Advanced."

You should see a "Music" section and under that a "Description" section.

In the "Music" section is where AudioSurf gets the artist name -- the "Artist" field. If nothing is there (or something unexpected or wrong) you can click in that area just to the right of it and put in the proper information.

In the "Title" field under "Description" there should be the name of the song. You can edit it in the same way as before.

Once you've put the proper information in those fields, click on "Apply" and "Ok."

Try the tunes in AudioSurf and see if they are then displayed correctly.

The big red bar usually says "playback error" in it. ;)

Then the OP should have said that.

Maybe add the launch option -32bit to the desktop shortcut of Audiosurf.

Right click, go to properties, where it says "Target" just add -32bit to the end.

I thought that was just for Source games?

Wouldn't DRM be one of those Playback Error 1000 things instead of a big red bar?

Chat / Re: HD YouTube - Quality is OMG!

Somebody else mind piping up over this, and whether it's smooth or not?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qbcCQtogRs

For me in IE, no - it sucked as usual.

But copied from my cache and played in VLC it was smooth as butter.

i use firefox and get video stutter sometimes with HD too. the fix? just drag the timeline back to the beginning. works 100% of the time for me.

I will have to give Firefox a try and see if there is a difference.

Dragging the timeline back to the beginning doesn't change anything at all for IE.

Can anyone explain to me why it is when playing HD on YouTube through my browser (IE) that it stutters but if I copy the file out of my cache and play it with VLC it plays perfectly?

I pretty much have to agree with Bugs Bunny.

With Iron Mode on, you neve miss those blocks in the outside lanes because the walls stop you from overshooting the mark.

Also, while Iron Mode can often get you a better score on a given song it's not always the case, in fact, the opposite can sometimes be true also.

There are songs in which you can be perfect in Iron Mode and not beat the score of someone else who didn't use it and the only way to compete on that song is to turn Iron Mode off.

/my 2 cents.
