Letter of law, or spirit of law? Because by the letter of the law, the majority of online interactions are illegal. But even the most draconian companies would be unlikely to care about chiptunes from the 1990's. OCRemix distributes chiptunes, and they are very careful about not violating the spirit of the law.

Often possible, yes, but look on Amazon for the Sonic III soundtrack. It's not sold. Also, if I'm asked to stop I will. I believe that it's an act of flattery, not of mockery, to recirculate these. Plus, it's not like it's a game I just d/l'ed and started seeding or anything, it's a soundtrack that might inspire people to buy the game, even if only a used copy from Amazon or a local games store.

Ok, twofold question here:

First: What is the technical legality on redistributing chip tunes? I've got a few off the internet from respectable looking sites (Mind you, for games I own). I've got .ogg re-encodings of them that I could put up if it would be permissible.

Second: Is there any way to add in plug-in support for Audiosurf, like BonkEnc supports Winamp plugins? Like allowing .dll's containing the correct handling information being added to a plug-in directory?

** If you do not own these games, do not download these songs. **

I'm gonna go with a forgiveness rather than permission thing, since it won't really hurt the makers (since they would be near inable to sell the songs in this form), and since the only people interested will be those who have the games, since it's more of a nostalgia thing.

I'm starting with Sonic III and Knuckles.

It's in 7-zip or .exe format. Live with it. The .exe has the .ogg's in a sub-folder, the .7z has them with no folder containing them.

Songs / Re: Spirals in songs?

Really, really long songs will have some form of spiral. Try my marathons. For the most excitement, try the D&B one with some expert or pro difficulty, and you'll probably get what you're looking for.

Don't use programs specifically to rip from YouTube, they are illegal, and ripping from YouTube is illegal.

A. Audacity.
B. Copy, Paste. You can fade-in-fade-out also.

I'd be lucky to find the uncut ones. I have enough audio-editing skills to warrant editing them together. I swear I'll get it together this month.

Here Cometh Beethoven: Songs Planned:

Sonata No. 14 in C Sharp Minor Moonlight, Op. 27 No. 2 - III. Presto

Sonata No. 21 in C Major Waldstein, Op. 53 - II. Introduzione Adagio molto

Sonata No. 31 in A Flat Major, Op. 110 - I. Moderato cantabile molto espressivo

Sorry for bump. I plan on releasing another marathon this weekend, what do you want it to be?

Here are some choices:
OC Remix 2: I take some more random songs from OC Remix.
Newgrounds Classical: I take "Classical" music from Newgrounds.
Beethoven Collection: I get some Beethoven from Musopen.
Other: Must be CC/Public Domain or equivalent.

Hypercam? Ew. No. Try something else, such as Screen VidShot. At least you can crop out the watermark in that without damaging too much.

I think the Clean Finish is intentional to promote thinking.
