I see this often as well, on my trance tracks that quite often no one else has played. The marker disappears after a few seconds. Just some weird bug I guess

I've heard it prophesized that if you utilize the ej.uz url shortener and happen to somehow magically navigate to a shortened url that is curiously reminiscent of the equation "I less than 3 AS", typed out as an all lowercase word without spaces, Pluto momentarily performs a force-clear on the Sun, and you may or may not get a vision of something. Insert standard epileptic seizure warning to give you that extra sense of living life dangerously.
Said prophecy is true... cheers  :)

Interesting. But I just played on casual and there is no change http://www.audio-surf.com/song.php#13141400
Also, there are some tracks with no casual scores where the track shape is present in the online scoreboard.

The problem does not show while you are playing the song. You will also find that the old scoreboard (the non-online scoreboard) does not display the track shape. However, I advise you not to check the track shape on the old scoreboard for fear that you may accidentally report your score, thus resulting in the accidental deletion of your score.

Yep I NEVER use the in-game scoreboard, too scared to risk it haha.

The issue is server side. For some reason these tracks aren't returning a valid ID when looking up the track shape data.
I've written some applications that look up score lists and track shapes and I'm getting 'unknown song' for the IDs (9512000 and 13141400). I'll investigate further and see what I can find out.

Thanks for taking the time to investigate Mincus  :)

I believe the issue of not having the track shape displayed is attributed to the quirks of the Quest 3D engine, the graphics engine that runs Audiosurf. Most bugs on Audiosurf are attributed to the Quest 3D engine.

I assumed it was a problem with the website part of things, as the track shape always shows up in game.

Sorry if this has been discussed before, didn't see much using Search.

I'm wondering why some tracks have no track shape on the online scoreboards. Two recent examples are

http://www.audio-surf.com/song.php#13141400

Anyone else seen this, or know why it might happen?

(except on trance where every mode is piss easy)

In that case you should play Robert Nickson - Helix   :)

A trance track this time, my highest skill rating ever  8)
Quality isn't great so set to 720p. Still haven't figured out why the volume is so quiet.

I mainly don't upload because Fraps slows down AS to the point where it affects my performance. But this run went OK... http://youtu.be/mUfDLN7OiS0

AS hasn't been updated in over a year iirc (save the achievement last Christmas). Have you tried verifying the game through Steam?

Strangely it never crossed my mind to verify the game! I know some files always fail validation but it reacquired 8 files this time around.  So if you don't hear from me again in this thread you can assume it's fixed  :)
Thanks

Troubleshooting / Pop up file browser causing AS to crash
« on: July 17, 2012, 02:49:20 am »
Title says it all. At least 50% of the time, bringing up the pop-up file browser causes everything to stop responding. Been going on for several weeks now ever since a steam update.

Anyone else had this problem?
