What's Your Gameplay Style?
« on: January 16, 2012, 04:49:01 pm »
How do you play Audiosurf? Which control method do you use? Do you use arrow keys or a mouse? I use a trackball. Specifically, an old style 2-key Logitech trackball. And I love it. They don't make them like this anymore (more's the pity). It gives Audiosurf an intuitive arcade feel and has no more keys than it needs (I prefer my mousewheel on my keyboard). It's also great for FPS gaming (especially with mouse sensitivity cracked to the max).

So does anyone else use a trackball with Audiosurf?
It's a Psychobilly Freakout! \8-D

Razer Lachesis Seriously can't use any other mouse after years of using Razer.  Ball mice, and other optical mice are far too slow or jittery for me.  Haven't used a trackball since 1997 when my roommate at the time broke my Microsoft Trackball.

Used to use an old Logitech Trackman Marble+, but they only came with PS/2 connections and XP drivers.  As such, I had to give it up when I got my new computer, and since there aren't any other trackballs that size out there(my hands are big) I've missed it.  Closest thing I could get was their new M570 wireless trackball.

stray, I fixed your url.  No need to include quotes or put in the http://, it just tends to break the tag.

Never played with a trackerball, though I have tried playing AS with my Wacom.

That sounds quite useful, just think of all the saved energy from not having to click the second time :P

I have never used a trackball mouse. I use a Logitech mouse with multiple buttons that can be used for keystroke assignments.

Try moving a window with it without maximizing
Try selecting a file without opening

I can do all those without even using a mouse, if you want to know how ask me on Steam so we don't derail this topic.

I have two mice with programmable buttons that can do the same. Probably the oddest setup, I have a left handed and right handed mouse and a graphics tablet all plugged in, and I use all three pretty much equally.

Mucked about with a touchpad on my laptop a few times, makes an interesting change but not really something I could get used to.
I play DVP pretty much exclusively with no aim for the scoreboards, just playing for fun these days, so I use a 360 pad for that.
If I do venture into another non-DV mode I'll use my mouse (Logitech Performance MX for anyone interested).

Could try my tablet sometime maybe. Might be fun.

Yeah, a joystick for each ship, it's the easiest way to play it imo.

Well yeah, but I feel more comfortable doing it with a mouse :p Which I can't because it's broken :p
