Bought game from Steam, but don't know how to start playing...

I feel like an idiot, like I've been cheated out of my money.

 - I paid for the game via STEAM.
 - Downloaded the game, installed it.
 - Double-clicked the desktop icon to start it.
 - Takes me to a STEAM-based window, with something that appears to be... a game's homepage, with access to "Home", "Songs", "Forums", and "News".
 - I don't see anything that looks like a "Click here to start playing the actual game that you just bought"

Please help. I consider myself to be really intelligent, but the interface here seems poorly designed. I shouldn't have to struggle so hard to figure out what I should do. I even created a profile for myself here on your forums, and I am asking for help.

Ok, that worked. Brought me to the game interface

Says I need quicktime to play my music; I just installed it, but it still says it. Going to restart the game to see if that works.

go into the options and uncheck decode with itunes.

you will lose support some codecs like m4a(aac) but everything else will work, with no quicktime requirement.

Was the button that hard to miss? Just for us veterans who have seen many versions of the game it's always been there and not hard to find.

You don't need quicktime, unless you have songs bought or ripped through the disaster that is itunes.
