I once had a video blocked in all countries except for Japan.

Wonder what was up with that.

Tentacle hentai?

Isn't that at the end of all AS videos anyway?

Btw, what copyright owner claimed your video of "Helden"?

SME. Apparently Sony Music Entertainment.

Maybe they're letting me get by with it because I used Sony Vegas Pro to create the video.
Who knows?

The image below shows the message about it along with the fact that it's blocked in Germany.
It used to say that it's blocked in "some countries" but not the specifics.

Having a video blocked in one country isn't so bad given the fact that Sony and other corporations have blocked some videos in numerous countries. The issue with Germany is that YouTube hasn't been able to successfully negotiate a broadcast license agreement with a collection rights organization known as GEMA.

YouTube pays money to collection rights organizations based in dozens of countries for the right to broadcast music. The collection rights organizations are made up of members that include the music labels that own these songs. There may be songs for which YouTube has no broadcast license in many countries. That could explain why your video was blocked in all countries except for Japan. Since 2009 YouTube has had serious problems reaching an agreement with GEMA, a collection rights organization based in Germany. Many people have accused GEMA of demanding an exorbitant fee for broadcast rights. That's why Germany is a common country for blocked videos.

to avoid any copyright problems (only for blocking countries or worldwide block), try upload songs without any copyright or only copyright with only advertising at your video. then its ok.

The only problem that may come up when I research videos of copyrighted or mainstream songs on YouTube before making an Audiosurf video is that I'm not 100% sure that the videos are not blocked in select countries. I can only say for sure that the videos are not be blocked worldwide because I see advertising such as links to iTunes, Amazon, or some other site. There is usually no problem with indie songs since indie artists are not signed to major music labels and they actually like to see their songs presented on YouTube.

Does the existence of a vevo for a said artist pose any relationship to the possibility of videos being blocked?

Also, kinda on topic : http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/12/18/torrents_and_traitors/

Well, it gave me a list of TV shows I'm not interested in at all (yes, I know it wasn't anyone else in the house and yes the router is secured, at least considerably better than others in the area). Probably had something to do with me just resetting the router though. ;)
Does demonstrate how inaccurate these things are for pinpointing specific downloaders without a timeframe when they're on a dynamic IP service. Which I think is the point of the site.

They had issues with the UK BPA as well for similar reasons. I think it's mostly resolved though. I've not seen a blocked music video in ages (although admittedly I haven't gone looking for any either).
