Question about pro characters
« on: September 16, 2011, 12:48:15 pm »
why is pusher pro so underrated? i always see vegases and erasers in top10's of songs i play, and then im the only pusher in top 10 :(

btw, i mostly get sandwiched by erasers and vegases :/

I used to play Pusher, but the OP Vegas made me leave for Elite.

Pusher pro is definitely good, to me it just seems like it's a bit harder to keep chain with pushers general mechanics (maybe i'm just really bad it though :P)

I still only play Eraser in Pro, as it seems to be so OP.

In Elite I play Pusher, but I'm just terrible at it so I'm usually just sticking with Pro Eraser.

Are you dethroning those other Vegas and Eraser players? I barely ever see any Pushers with Thrones in Pro.

that is probably one of the stronger pusher pro scores I haven't been able to beat (I play DVP mostly)

This discussion has been had many a time. A GOOD pusher or pointman player SHOULD be able to beat an eraser player on par. But an average eraser player may just be as good as his pusher/pointman top equivalent. This does sorta make it OP, but it has it's limitations. I have a struggle against metaLsurfeR (me being an eraser player, him being pointman) because he's genuinely good at it. Now, I'm genuinely good at eraser, but he does get the better of me on many songs.

Vegas is not overpowered. It's just that after about 100 runs, you're bound to get a red splash followed by multiplier. However, unless you know how to correctly hold a chain, those points are almost meaningless. So I actually respect the vegas players who are at the top because I sure wouldn't be able to get that score with vegas.

But if you want balanced competition, go Elite.
Audiosurf is like a mix of tetris, need for speed and pot... Look at all the colours, dude!

Pusher's performance tends to depend a lot on the characteristics of the song. The pusher can drop a chain so easily on low traffic song (130 or less). Pusher really excels on high traffic songs because it doesn't drop chains so easily.

metaLsurfeR is one of the most formidable pointman elite players you will ever find. He is also Blitzschlag1's brother. Vegas is not overpowered as many have claimed on this forum. It is an unbalanced character and it is unbalanceable. The thought that Vegas can be balanced would lead one to falsely believe that it could one day be balanced. The randomization of the Pro mode (paint and multipliers)also contributes to Vegas being unbalanced. Elite is more balanced because there is not as much randomization.

Pusher is so underrated because no-one was able to learn, Vegas, and Eraser to there full potential during the limited time of the beta that buffed them.

That beta completely changed there play styles so we had no experienced people to test with what amounts to new characters during the 1 month time the beta was running.

Pro just isn't (and can't be) balanced because of paints and multipliers, playing elite offers more balanced competition.

afaict, the ratio paint/multiplier is equal for pusher/pointman. It shouldn't matter.
Vegas is a different story though.

The pro mode isn't as balanced as elite because the frequency of paints and multipliers can vary from one playthrough to the next. The colors of paints and the size of the mulitpliers are other factors that vary from one playthrough to the next. The aforementioned variations and randomizations do not apply to the elite mode.

But whether a pusher or a pointman has that run shouldn't matter. Unless I'm not seeing something here.
