Song shape question
« on: July 05, 2011, 12:52:00 pm »
I just completed the song "Dream Machine" by Tristan and i noticed that my shape was different than the other 2 people that played that song and my length was longer. i have the high score on pro now and i didn't think it was fair that mine was different than theirs. i just bought this album on itunes and wanted to play it.

I know they played a song that was different than mine. that being said, is there a way to check who's was the right song?

well what do you define as being the right song though.

some songs exist on multiple albums and audiosurf doesn't check the album tag, so whos to say which version is correct, than add in things like the radio edit of the song and maybe older versions of the song from EP's and you can see why people all got different versions of tracks and non of them can really be declared as the proper one

I get what you are saying but it only partly answered my problem. I guess i just dont want to be reported for a song that SHOULD be the right song.
It's just the song the other people played was ~4 minutes long and mine was 7 minutes.

Should I just forget about it?

You won't get reported, and if you did nothing would happen. Having different versions of a song on the same board happens all the time. I find it particularly annoying for old video game music where the titles are often general (like "Stage Select", "Stage 1", e.t.c.) and can include a whole lot of totally different tracks all on the same board (there's like 40 different tracks called "Title" by "Tim Follin").

I wish Dylan would try to solve some of these problems. But apparently he's abandoned working on the game (there hasn't been an important update in like three years).

Just report yourself (this will change your score on the board to "2"), find the version most others on the board are playing and do another run with the same tags. Your score will be replaced.
