Sigh. Been through this more times than I care to mention.
Mono has such a small difference between "good" and "very good" that making it a competitive mode (even with itself) isn't worth doing.
Whilst theoretically all the modes have a 'perfect' run for a track (assuming no bonuses), Mono's is the only one that is achievable by average players.
What this means is that on any Mono-only scoreboard, you'll initially have differences of a handful of points near the top and eventually the perfect run will be realised and then it's purely a case of practice.
With the exception of >400 traffic songs, once it's worked out then a perfect run is possible on every single song by any average Audiosurf player. Competitive scoreboards for Mono with this view simply don't make sense as it's more a case of whether QuestViewer or Windows generate framedrop during your run than whether any skill is involved.
Now, if you
really insist on repeatedly bashing your head against the Mono skill ceiling with a scoreboard then use the
[as-monoonly] tag as outlined in this post:
http://www.audio-surf.com/forum/index.php/topic,3784.0.htmlYou'll need to convince others to use the tag as well though, obviously.
I have in the past suggested that Mono automatically adds this tag, but more to get rid of the whiners on the forums than because anything useful would come from the feature.

I should point out that this is from someone who has played exclusively Mono for most of the time he's played Audiosurf. Dip your toe into the other characters and you very quickly see why Mono is treated the way it is. It's a chill-out mode, not a serious gameplay mode.
