Separate Mono score boards
« on: June 03, 2011, 05:50:38 am »
First of all i have to say i got this game 2 days ago and im really enjoying it so far. There is just 1 think that bothers me alot.

I LOVE Mono its really simple and i like it more then any other character i played so far. Thats why i find it really annoying to see top scores of all the  game modes combined where i will never get in the top places because other gamemodes like pointman give alot more score then mono if done correctly.

Would it be possible to make separate scoreboards and you could switch between them? Would love to be in the high score once.

It already exists ;)

Try clicking on the mono character icon on the web score boards.

I don't see how you can click on the mono character icon on the web scoreboards. I have always seen mono characters integrated with the puzzle characters on the web scoreboards. I tried to click on the mono character on Casual but the mouse pointer does not indicate that the mono character icon can be clicked at all. I agree that mono characters should be separated from puzzle characters because it's like comparing apples to oranges. There is simply no comparison.

I see you haven't even tried clicking it at all and just disregarded h3x's advise when you saw that the pointer didn't change.

Click the damned image.

Clicking on it only changes the filter. Don't act like this is a feature that the people want. If I have the highest score of all the mono players on a song I want to have the mono throne! Why have you been ignoring players requests for years?

We are not the dev's, we are only trying to help by providing you with information otherwise undocumented.

When I get the highest Pusher Score, I want to get the Pusher Throne! When I got the highest Pointman Score, I want to get the Pointman Throne! When I got the highest Mono Score, I want to get the Mono Throne!

Oh wait, I could just change the filter and see that I do have the Pusher Throne after acquiring the highest Pusher-score.

Really, the scoreboards show you the top 10 of the registered scores on this song. If you want information on a specific character, you change the filter so that you only see the character you want.

As you probably don't know, there have been an aweful lot of Erasers lately. I'm a Pusher, sometimes Pointman-player. When I get a good Pointman Score on a song, but the top 10 consists solely out of Erasers because Pointman can't compete on that song, I just change that filter to find out if I'm the best Pointman that has played that song or not.
I'd miss the filter if it weren't there - it is thus a feature people want, assuming that I am a part of "people".

No. People are generaly asking for seperate scoreboards, and a filter is not that. I understand that you can check if you have the highest score for a certain character but after playing 200 songs it's kind of hard to check if you have been "dethroned" on any of them without the server telling you, like it tells you if you have been dethroned from the first place among all characters.

Which defeats the object of testing my skill at character x vs someone else's at character y. I've had a few good throne battles between myself and others who prefer a different character. Yes there might be a bit of imbalance, but it doesn't kill the fun.

No. People are generaly asking for seperate scoreboards

I see one, 1 != everyone.

However if you are that bothered, there's the option of playing different characters to get the thrones using their specific strengths at different traffic levels. However I'll just keep playing for fun and actually enjoying the ride.

--snipped nonsense--

If you want to compete, don't play Mono.

I reckon a filter for mono is a neat idea. Other mono players know who's mono top and it doesn't influence the scoreboard in any way for the other classes. Whence clicking on the mono character, you're pretty much showing up a mono-only scoreboard.

Having said that, unless there are some SERIOUS changes to mono (like making it near impossible to stealth a slow song with -1 traffic), there's no way it'll compete on the scoreboard.

In reply to your first question, Wizz, clicking the mono character (and I reckon this should be implemented to in-game scoreboards too) DOES show you a separate scoreboard.

Audiosurf is like a mix of tetris, need for speed and pot... Look at all the colours, dude!

uughh! I never said clicking on mono doesn't show the separate scoreboard. The other guy said that. Read the names before you accuse me of stupidity. Also saying that what i said was nonsese right before saying: "If you want to compete, don't play Mono." is just sad, and i'm sorry for you.

Now... my point is. If i'm first in mono on a song. And not first all together. When someone beats my mono score with a mono character, it would be nice to be notified that i have been dethroned from my mono throne. See the difference? or do i have to draw it out for you? Throne and no throne. I can't tell when someone has beaten my mono score, i cant check back on all the 500 songs that i've played do you understand? It's real simple guys. Your brain, use it.

Thrones are based on casual, pro and elite. Not on character. That's just how the game is. You're first or you're not. Mono wasn't designed to be competitive.

F1 races include a variety of cars by different manufacturers, a single 1st place or throne is awarded to the fastest. Not per manufacturer of vehicle. Woe be the day when only a set vehicle manufacturer is allowed in a race, or maybe only people with a set length leg or chromosome allowed in the Olympics, or perhaps a PC gaming tournament allowed only a set keyboard and mouse to be used.

A throne is per tier not per character. It's real simple guys. Your brain, use it.
