Drop the .ash in .../audiosurf/engine/audiosurfhc and when you load the song, the saved ash will be loaded. If you see the screen where it generates the .ash then something has gone wrong, ie file names don't match and the game simply creates a new .ash.
Austria is just like Yorkshire, but they have bigger hills.... oh and they have real snow too

Aha, okay. The problem is still that after dropping the .ash file into .../audiosurfhc, I can't find it in Audiosurf. Only in Windows Explorer. Neither can I find it using the Popup File Browser.
That said, there are some .ash files that I can find and play, just not all of them.

You don't play the .ash directly.
Seems no one told you.

When AS analyses a song, it creates the track, which is saved in the .ash file.
When you load the song, AS looks for the corresponding .ash file, and if it can't find one, will generate one.
To provide the same level of competition, people swap .ash files, however you need to select a song for the .ash to be loaded.

the techno track has 223 traffic on ninja iron mode and the drum & bass one 300. but I only play mono iron mode :) give them a try
