Character Suggestion: KIWI!
« on: February 15, 2008, 10:25:02 pm »
Watch the animation! NAO!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdUUx5FdySs
(you can also watch the Mad World fan version, it's good too)

The mode would be just like Mono, but without the colored blocks(more below)
The ship would be Kiwi
The cars would be trees
The blackhole/whatever is at the end would be the ground(the screen would go white just before Kiwi hits it)

Scoring 1:
You start the song with the maximum points(Kiwi's HP), for each tree you hit, your points are DECREASED by the number of that color. Trees aren't used as blocks, there's no block grid, they just vanish if you hit them. If your point reach 0, the song is failed and you're prompted to either restart or end song.

Scoring 2:
You start the song with 0 points, for each tree you hit, your points are INCREASED by the number of that color. Trees aren't used as blocks, there's no block grid, they just vanish if you hit them. So the more damage Kiwi suffers, the more points you earn. XD

I just had this idea while playing... Dunno why, but it would be awesome XD

I dunno, that kind of gameplay doesn't seem that different enough from the mono character to need a completely new character.

The fun is to play as the kiwi, not to play something completely different ^^

I like idea 1 better but I have a few questions.

So like mono except you have to avoid all the blocks? A certain amount of hits and it's over? Sounds like an interesting idea but how do you judge score and such for the leaderboard?

I agree. It sounds like you just want to play as kiwi. So... get a stick. Any will do. Then draw Kiwi on a nice piece of card paper. Then attach paper to stick. Now.. attach stick to mouse such that the Kiwi picture is in front of the monitor and covers up your onscreen ship. Now you can play as Kiwi.  ;D

It's the same, except if 10 or more people get a perfect run on a song, the leaderboard will have the same numbers over and over.
I don't know how different it would be from the other modes, your score when the song ends is the score that's recorded.

The idea is to make an avoid mini-game inside AS. Like the thousands there are on the internet, where you avoid rocks, squares, balls, spikes... But played with your own songs, with tracks made of them and with AS visual quality.

For the second type, it's like those collect-as-many-as-you-can mini-games.
Again, like the thousands there are on the internet, where you collect coins, candy, food...

Both are more relaxing than Mono(especially the second, where there's no penalties), the reason being having only one thing to worry about, avoid or collect.

It doesn't really matter if the kiwi would be the character(but it was the idea that struck me in the first place), just having these two mini-games would rock.
