DEMO EXPIRED MESSAGE:

Fully exit out of  Steam, right clicking the Steam icon to exit. Restart Steam and this should be fixed.

QUEST 3D ERROR MESSAGE

    1) Exit steam and restart
    2) if that fails, exit computer and restart
    3) if that fails, delete local copies and redownload

This works for most people but some people still have an error. If you are running Windows 2000, the game does not support Windows 2000, but you might want to check out this thread for ideas of how to make it work:

http://www.audio-surf.com/forum/index.php/topic,215.0.html

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=653751&page=2

You may also want to try out closing out Steam and logging in as an administrator:

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=654184

Also you may want to do what's suggested in this forum--try the last cache validation step first:

If you were playing the cracked beta you might want to check out:

IF YOU GET A SPECIFIC QUEST ERROR ABOUT CHANNEL D637Ea74...(long number)

BLUE SCREEN

    Check out this thread:

    http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=653791&page=2

You may want to delete and reinstall your sound card drivers.  C-Media cards and Turtle Beach Montego cards give some people trouble in particular.

As a quick fix, turning off sound effects has worked for some people so you may want to try that. When you load up a screen, select "no sounds"

Some people have fixed this by using a USB sound card:

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=653791&page=2

or by checking their audio and video codecs:

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=654167

also one person says if you're using 5.1 sound this might be the problem:

http://www.audio-surf.com/forum/index.php/topic,726.15.html

IF YOUR GAME SCREEN GOES COMPLETELY WHITE

This may be either a hardware or a software issue--people have found fixes with both.

You may want to try downloading this version of directx:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displaylang=en

and checking out this forum: http://www.audio-surf.com/forum/index.php/topic,1411.0.html

One person has recently found a conflict with ATI 8.1 drivers: http://www.audio-surf.com/forum/index.php/topic,1140.0.html

MOUSE/CONTROLS NOT WORKING RIGHT

It may be a USB device issue. If you have something like a Guitar Hero controller plugged in, this may be causing the trouble.

Some people on the Steam forum have found that it's their mouse that was causing the trouble:

UNPLAYABLY SLOW FRAMERATE OR SUSPECTED MEMORY LEAK

XBCD drivers for Xbox 360 controllers also are known to cause memory leak problems.

IF YOU WANT TO BUMP UP YOUR FRAMERATE BUT THE GAME IS FUNCTIONAL

check out this info about vsynch:

check out this if you have an Nvidia card:

or this:

"Hey, all you Vista+Nvidia users out there. I found the following page:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/windows_vista_hotfixes.html

Most hotfixes were not applicable to my system but after installing the first one I got a HUGE performance boost in Audiosurf. I also installed the newest beta drivers (173.65):

CRASH WHEN YOU TRY TO PLAY THE GAME OR THE GAME IS STUCK IN WEIRD WIREFRAME/RESPAWN MODE

If you are having a crash come up when you try to play the game, it may be something to do with the initial video that starts up and needing a codec for it, or needing Windows Media Player. You can try deleting the videos from Audiosurf to see if that works.

PLAYBACK ERROR 44

If you are getting a playback error 44 message, this may be because you don't have Windows Media Player installed or you need to adjust your iTunes settings:

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=654024

IF YOU GET PLAYBACK INIT ERROR 3:

The computer may not be recognizing your sound card and may be trying to treat something else (like your dial-up modem) as a sound card:

IF YOU'VE EDITED THE HOST FILE AT SOME POINT...

try this thread for advice:

IF YOU HAVE AN ATI X1900 VIDEO CARD

Some people are having graphics problems who have this card. You can try running it in normal or enhanced graphics mode instead of premium (hit escape while playing to change) and/or make sure anti-aliasing is off.

ONLY BLACK BLOCKS APPEAR:

A file is corrupted and you'll need to redownload. One person says deleting manually is what works, not deleting local content:

http://www.audio-surf.com/forum/index.php/topic,924.0.html

Check out this thread about looking at your options.cgr file to see if that helps:

MISSING TEXT ON BUTTONS?

Check out: http://www.audio-surf.com/forum/index.php/topic,1033.0.html

For one person it helps to go to options--change resolutions and then disable HD&L

IF YOU ARE USING A G15 KEYBOARD AND THE GAME WILL NOT START

Plug something into both of the USB ports at the back of the keyboard, so both of the ports have something in them.

My game only starts when I have something plugged into both ports. (In my case, my mouse and my joystick)

I wonder if it might be easier to put all this in one thread - I created one here not knowing this one existed Wink

Don't mind which one it is, but I can't edit your post, so if you want me to help update, perhaps link to mine and I'll copy your answers across Smiley

Some other stuff that might help freezing, FPS, ect

Defragging your hard drive.

Turning off your hardware acceleration.

To do that:
1. Click on Start > Control Panel.
2. In the classic view, double click on the Display icon.
3. Select the Settings tab and click on the Advanced button. The Advanced Settings dialog box appears.
4. Click on the Troubleshoot tab.
5. You can disable the hardware acceleration completely by dragging the slider to the extreme left of the scale. You can also choose to turn down the hardware acceleration by selecting an intermediate value.

Can we please add this to the sticky? Seems a lot of people have had this trouble.

The locked modes are NOT PART of the demo. They're part of the tutorial! You have to play a few songs to unlock the other guys. Appearances are deceiving - only the "x songs remaining in your demo" text in the song browser indicates you're running a demo.

Now, I'm not very computer savvy, so I'm not sure if my problem is something that the update did intentionally or if it's just me.

As I'm playing through a song, the track blinks incessantly and then sometimes disappears altogether, just leaving me with the reflections of the notes and no track whatsoever.  It's really frustrating and makes it hard for me to concentrate.

Was this intentionally in the update? If it was, there needs to be some way to turn it off. If not, there's something wrong with Audiosurf on my pc.

That's definitely not supposed to happen. Have you tried verifying your game files in steam / restarted steam? Updates like to break things
