Audiosurf Tilt for Android
« on: December 18, 2010, 06:55:34 pm »
So, I've heard rumors that Audiosurf may be in production for Android powered phones. I want to know it this is true? I sure hope that it will be, because it's one of my favorite games, and it shouldn't be that hard to make for android, not to mention it would turn up a HUGE profit.

I understand that Android lacks the level of detail required for scanning the music (although I may be wrong).
This is one of the reason that Osmos won't be ported to Android (at least not in the near future) for example: http://www.hemispheregames.com/2010/12/16/why-we-haven%E2%80%99t-ported-osmos-to-android/

It's unfortunate since I own an Android phone and I'd like to see it on there as well.

I suspect the rumour may have come from here: http://discussion.treocentral.com/cross-platform-chat/247192-android-gettin-audiosurf-first-but-webos-could-next.html
I find it unlikely though.

I believe there is a game called wave that uses the same concept, so why wouldnt it be possible for audiosurf, its the same basic concept

Yeah, you're right. Although for some reason Wave doesn't seem to be available to me in the marketplace.

I still don't see it as likely though.
Like the big list of "why isn't Audiosurf on device_of_choice" list, it would require a rewrite of the engine. Tilt is built on XNA. Android uses OpenGL ES. The original Audiosurf uses Quest3D which is strictly Windows only, so that's not likely either.

Still, it would be good thing if it would get there.

It really wouldn't be that hard to do, people are just lazy. and all those other systems like wii, ds, psp, arent as likely to happen as a smatrphone app, and since android can do it, then why not do it? It could rise to be one of the most popular games on the market!

Have you ever tried making anything like a 3D game before? It's not just being lazy you know.

Australia is kinda awesome, but it's no Yorkshire.

The Game is already there, it just needs to be ported to a different code. I've seen many games that have been ported to different consoles. Porting wouldn't be as hard as completely making the game from scratch.

Unless it was made in a propriety engine which can not be ported maybe

Discussion about Audiosurf on any other platform than the PC must be continued here:
