try disabling xfire, it made the game feel much smoother without it!

Just for an experiment I 'acquired' a standalone version on Audiosurf off of BitTorrrent. It is of update 6, and has no lag issues at all. I can run it at full resolution with premium graphics and maximum antialiasing. So I guess I'm using that version until the legit version stops sucking...
