Blue screen of death
« on: February 15, 2008, 01:51:03 pm »
Hi,

I don't seem to be able to get past around 1 minute in to a song before a windows Blue Screen of Death screen pops up and I have to hard reboot my PC. Have tried this with multiple songs multiple times and it keeps on happening.

I'm using an ATI x850 with the latest drivers (updated after the first BSOD). Processor is an intel P4 3.2ghz, 2gig of ram. Using windows XP pro.

Anyone have any ideas as to how I could fix this?

well what does it say. it will show some sort of information that we can use. i mean thers all the normal junk in the top half and a bit below the middle of the page it will say something in there. at least it should

or does it say something up top. there's relevant information on there somewhere

All it has is some kind of 'STOP' code at the bottom.

I managed to get it to play without crashing by disabling sound on windows, so I guess its an issue with my cmedia onboard sound card. Kinda sucks playing with audio though ;)

I'm unable to play this game past 15 seconds or so as well.  Blue screen of death, promptly followed by full system restart.  I don't know the code it gave, because of the very fast restart.  I paid $10 for this, and feel like in it's current state, it should have been FREE.

I'm disappointed highly.  It seems like a cool game, and well, I feel stupid for paying for it now.

I hope there is a patch to fix these issues.  I've tried every single thing possible could that I read on these forums to fix this issue, without any luck.  Yes, I've updated every single driver I could to latest, yes indexing is off now, and yes, all usb devices except my keyboard were unplugged.

I feel like I just waisted ten bucks on a game I can not play.  I mean no other program I've ran in the last 3 years has made my system reboot except this!

I'm having the same BSOD problem as everyone else basically. I can play through freeride no problem, but on any other mode, the song will cut out at 15-60 seconds. I have the latest video card drivers, latest audio drivers. I installed that Quest3D viewer thing as well (same problem before & after). I "deleted local content" and redownloaded/reinstalled the game. DXDIAG attached.

Got the same problems as everyone else.  Updated video and sound drivers, updated dx, reinstalled the game, disabled MB audio, and still nothing.  Anymore ideas would be greatly appreciated.  Included a dxdiag.

Well the three people before me and I have the same problem, and

A Turtle Beach Montego DDL sound card, so I think that may do it.

Did multiple deletes/reinstalls no luck.

Drivers should be relatively up to date but I havent bothered to double check since the sound card seems to be the issue.

here is my dxdiag as well

Just realized I have onboard sound as well, maybe when I have the energy/time I will remove my turtle beach card and install onboard sound and see if it helps.

After reading the steam forums, I found that

setting the sound effects to off seems to work just fine.

Is there any way for the game to remember my preference? I have to change it every time. Surely there's a cfg file somewhere I can edit?
