A few minutes ago i played the demo, i then bought it, and that very "demo expired" sign came up nad now im reinstalling it. its a great game but you should put all your energy on fixing such a critical bug, or as said, at least  have a sign on that screen.

If you restart Steam all should be well. Let me know if it's not.

exactly if you play the demo then buy the game without starting steam, then you will get the error. Only with audiosurf have i ever gotten this before.

when i had this problem (i don't know if subsequent updates have made this not an option) i had to delete the "ClientRegistry.blob" file, and then i had to restart Steam.  it worked perfectly fine after that.
the file should be somewhere like this:
C/Program Files/Steam/ClientRegistry.blob

EDIT:
oh, and, i did check this.  it is still there.
don't worry, restarting steam makes a new version of the file, it does not delete all your games or anything like that (although i would have thought it would).

'NOTHER EDIT:
this information came from a thread that was created recently when i bought this (i.e. a month ago) so i'm not exactly sure where it is now

I bought the full game with my family's pc, at my house. It worked, Audiosurf appeared in the steam "my games" instantly, no problems.

When I returned to my own flat, in student halls, (where I have used and installed steam games before, so I know that steam itself works) Audiosurf was not in the "my games" tab on steam, and the only options on the "store" tab were to buy the game again, or to download the demo.

So I thought, ok, it's being screwy, I've read about stuff similar to this in the audiosurf forums.

I restarted steam, still not there.

I then installed the demo version, which added 2 entries to the "my games" tab. One was for "Audiosurf demo", which I played successfully until my allowance for songs had run out. The other was for "Audiosurf", and under "status" for the entry, it says "Preload Complete".

I restarted steam while the demo was installed, but I was still stuck with "preload complete" for the full version.

So I right-clicked --> "delete local content" on the entry "audiosurf demo", which removed both audiosurf entries from the "my games" tab.

I'm reinstalling the demo again, and it's appearing to be exactly the same as before.

I'm definitely sure that it was bought on the same steam account (ScottyMcNoob), and the money's been taken out of my bank account.

Can anyone help?

Mm, you should ask Steam support, it looks like Steam didn't register that you bought the game, so it's more likely to be a Steam problem and not an Audiosurf problem...

Scalex, try what I posted about 3 posts above yours, that should work.  If not, contact steam support.

Might I direct your attention to this portion of the post?

Steam wouldn't do that if he hadn't purchased the game. It may be having a brainfart, but it's not stupid.

Uh, I dunno about Audiosurf, but when I DLed the Portal demo it did exactly that -- preloaded it so it'd take less time when buying.
