the redistributables yes, or maybe the 2008 ones will remove the 2005 on install.

might be an issue with x64, don't know if you can emulate x86 somehow.

Found the 2008 ones, for 32 and 64bit. Try un-installing vc++ and reinstalling

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=a5c84275-3b97-4ab7-a40d-3802b2af5fc2&displaylang=en - x86

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=BA9257CA-337F-4B40-8C14-157CFDFFEE4E&displaylang=en - x64
what do you mean with uninstall vc++? the 2005ers?
Generally I don't think you should ever have two versions of something installed.  But that's just me.
I think concerning the runtime librarys its necessery because not every game uses the 64 runtime library because it just gets executed in 32bit.

I think there's a folder called "program files x86" or something to that effect, is steam inside this folder?

there's a folder that programmes inside it are run as x86, you should try running AS from that as see if the issue is resolved

I know... move steam to this folder. Steam can be moved locations and it'll still run fine

Sorry thats not an option...

There are to many folders inside and it wont fit.

I have a pretty organized hdd system.

My System drive doesnt have the compability...

And as i see it im the only 64bit user whose expirincing this bug??
so it runs fiine for everybody else :/
Something has to conflict...
Or something is missing :(

Or somewhere are old configurationfiles wich conflict somehow...

I dunno, go to sleep for a few hours and chaos ensues. :P

I'm 99% certain the VC++ runtime isn't your problem.
You're getting the error message due to Audiosurf not finding the correct filters for some reason, this causes a playback error for music and a crash for the video.

You didn't answer one of my questions: Are any sound effects working in Audiosurf when you click buttons? What about the menu music?

Have you tried seeking out the latest drivers for your sound card?

Also attaching a dxdiag.txt might help.

There is no sound at all.

The real issue is that its not even working when i am using an usb soundcard...
Thats why i dont think its soundcard related...

I Have an update.

I recently reinstalled windows media player 11 for windows xp 64...
Suddenly i was able to view the tutorial video.

No other sounds are playing though. No music in the background or soundeffects on menu buttons.

It also still crashes when i try to start a song.

Are there any other important codecs wich are necessary to run audiosurf?

Audiosurf uses Windows Media Player for songs etc, so if Windows Media Player can play it, Audiosurf can use it.
