You will want 2 GB ram and 3 GH single or 2 GH dual core processor. It might work, but I doubt it. My 3.?? lags at 1650x1080 on enhanced, with 2 GB ram and a GeForce 7900. So I would suggest an upgrade!  ;D

I use XP, by the way.

My Specs:

1.81 Athlon 64 dual core,
GeForce Go (6250?)
2 GB RAM (or 1?)
XP Media Center Edition

Recommendation:

2+ GB of disk space
2.4 GHz Quad Core or Quad Duo
4 GB RAM
XP, not Vista.

fraps = good. hypercam = poo.
got the recording down pat. my specs are good enough to record so i'm happy :D

but when im in virtualdub and picking my LAME compression, i don't have that exact option:

??? :(
in the end, it isn't synched 100% and it skips a little bit here and there. but that may be cuz of my crap PC...

did that and when i chose it and went to encode, it would give me an error. when i get home i'll try again and give a detailed msg.

edit: got it to show by going to Audio > Conversion and selecting 'Mono' under Channels. now lemme see if it solves my prob.

edit2: after finally selecting the bitrate iccy suggested, the video encoded perfectly :D
no desynch'ing or frame skips :D

edit3: even got the HQ trick on youtube to work! check out the vid i created after enough troubleshooting :D
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=tDblOo4kZ24 - i'm not great. and when i record i get a bit more nervous cuz the whole world's gonna see my suckiness :P

Now I can't even load in a video, look how fail Movie Maker is.

Actually, I can explain that. Hopefully. The video you were using was moved or deleted. It happens to me a lot. Hopefully this advice helps.

I personally use Movie Maker because it lets me add audio, which my stupid sound card refuses to capture. However, my quality is awful because of trying to max my in game experience. My new video does not lag, but I haven't made it yet. Scream by Jonah 33, if you want to know.

I'll use a recent run I did as an example for this next point...
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=QpUqR182HoI

It seems like Youtube has decided to stop making videos look shitty when encoding them... and just dishes out two encodes of the same video.

Click the little monitor and set it to high, and you'll see that the quality of the video is really strong now. While giZm's little thing was a great bypass, it isn't necessary anymore.

Just a heads up, hope this helps you guys.

Oh... just to clear up something before he says something about it...

well, i just found this out, and apparently it works on any youtube video. If you want to watch a video in high-def, just add &fmt=18

Yeah, it's basically this.

I'm going to go ahead and recommend Vimeo. 500mb upload limit (reset weekly), HD if you want to, up to 720p, and a better (IMO, and certainly prettier) interface.

wait do you have to buy fraps to get more then 30 seconds of video?

Edit:
ill answer that myself yes and i just did but for some reason i cant seem to get it to record the audio. im using SigmaTel Audio and asigning the settings the way youve got them in the tutorial but fraps will only record the video for some reason.
