I would to show you guys a video of my playing but... No matter what I try for video recording... it ALWAYS lag like hell.  Video records the lag as well.  On top of all, I record in Windowed mode at 1280x720 (720P).

I will try with my beloved CamStudio with his codec.  In StepMania, I have ~25FPS while recording in 800x600 windowed... We'll see.

Thought I'd mention, if you're having problems with the audio being delayed, and not in sync with the video, go to audio > interleaving > audio skew correction, and just play around with the values to get the audio to fit. I had this problem a long while, cause I thought it was a problem with VD, but it was actually in the raw footage, so it didn't work for me to go to frame rate and make the lengths of audio and video to match.

It's not that...  If I lagged in the game, there's lag in the video... I just can't make a video then. *sigh*
It's useless.  Whenever I try to record the screen, the videos are always :
1. Having out-of-sync audio
2. Video lag
3. Video stop recording before I finish the song

Or, with the game itself :
- Unplayable.  Too laggy.  Even if 800x600 with Low-details and all.

The only way I succesfully get something is with my digital cam that get a 30fps, 320x240 video.

:( :( :(

How do you set the game to windowed mode at that res? Whenever I try to change the resolution in windowed mode, it just ignores it. I have to manually drag out the window to that pixel size in order to get it, it's very annoying. My current monitor setup makes it uncomfortable to play in full screen mode.

I had the same problem and wrote a Mini-Addon to solve this:

it's asking for .NET 4.0?

Outsch...

I wrote this in the VS 2010 beta and simply forgot that the standard target platform is .Net 4.0.

Link is fixed. Should be working with .Net 2.0 now.

Seems to work, but for some reason seems to add +8,+4 to the res as reported by the Options screen. For instance, if I set 1200x800 in the add-on, the window reports 1208x804.

Window borders.

Audiosurf has a "remove borders" command that metaLsurfeR could include if he feels like it.

That add-on broke with the new update, unfortunately.

Edit: never mind, must've been a momentary glitch. It does work!

Thanks for this guide..
However I feel I need a bit of guideance.

On average how big should the AVI be when saved? I thought it would be quite small as its uploading to Youtube and going to be compressed a lot on there. But i'm sure I did all your instructions and ended up with a massive 118mb video. I know its smaller than 3gb but I wouldn't mind being able to upload it to Youtube within an hour, my up speed is about 25kb/s..

Is there any way to overcome this?
Thanks
David

I've seen 80-150mb videos before. You won't really get much smaller unless you want to cut quality more. You can decrease a few options (lower bitrate and stuff) if you want to.

I've actually been uploading 200-500mb videos on Youtube...school connections rock :)

I'd like to ask this because I've found out that many don't know a thing about it:

Do you guys (and girls) have the official Copyright to upload the Videos you're doing? And how did you get it?
Visit my Youtube Channel with lots of Audiosurf Videos (almost daily updates)

As far as I know, nobody's bothered with copyright for uploading videos.  And they shouldn't have to, either, nobody's going to try and rip the song from the video when they could get a sound effect free version elsewhere.
