No, I'm saying second hand sales via DIGITAL distribution is difficult, if not impossible, to sustain.
The best that could perhaps be done is an opportunity to return the product for perhaps 50% what you paid for credit of some description.

Oh yes I understand, see my original post (in bold, the long chunk),  I am not arguing that Steam should not be used at all, I am arguing that it should not be sold *exlusivley* on Steam.

That's what the demo is for. Try before you buy and all that.

Not everything has a demo. And, as in the case of the aforementioned Portal, they don't always have a complete representation of actual content.

Being able to sell something you don't want (usually for less than what you paid for) is hardly a 'financial reward'. It's a capitalistic right, however.
