I noticed that in the options menu you can change the color of the background and road. The three available colors are black, white, and gray. So let's say you go into options from the character selection screen and choose black.
When you start a song, the road and background will be black. So now let's say you want to change it to white without restarting the song. You pause the game and click white. Now what this does is change the background to white, but keeps the road black.
It also does this the other way, if you choose white from the character selection screen but change it to black in game, the background changes but the road doesn't.
Now I'm sure that this is a glitch, but I think that the black road w/ white background looks pretty nice. Is there anyway that I would be able to keep it like this without all these color changing shenanigans?
I attached a picture to show what I mean.

Not really a glitch, just how the engine handles the textures, and no, there's no short cut to it. Tis cool though I agree

Interesting that this bug is featured in one of the screenshots in the Audiosurf steam store page. I was wondering how to reproduce it.

an add-on to make the road black but the BG white or vice-versa would be nice  ;)

Didn't think Dylan added in the texture for the road itself, just the cliffs on either edge.

The road isn't a texture, so you can't change it that way

I had a better idea - Skyspheres.

Set skysphere_black to a pure white texture. TADA!

Green = listening, red = surfing

Doing that will cause the cliffs to look very odd, but I will test using the opposite color's cliff textures. Will be back with results in a minute.

EDIT: Yeah, it causes every semi-transparent object to be faded and look odd. To do it we'd need to change the color of the highway, which would only be possible by changing some files that happen to be encrypted. Not to mention that the black scenery looks wierd on a white skysphere.
