Anyway, on the topic of Mono...

Maybe adding another row (bringing Mono to 8 rows)?

wouldnt make too much difference since mono cant even m21 a lot of songs so the grid is not even getting full enough to take advantage of 24 slots.

It might help Elite, since the matches last longer. If you'd already lost your Stealth, you could even use up to 3 greys to stall for time.

Another row would mean there were 28 slots, not 24.  (Your point is still valid of course, but my pedantry won't let that go uncorrected.)

An 8th row would also remove much of the skill in getting m21 on songs dense enough to achieve it yet lacking an auto-21 block layout. Ninja Mono in particular needs its execution:potential ratio increased, not decreased, and adding extra rows or a clear bonus etc does nothing toward this end- it just hands out free points.

Rows are horizontal. 8 x 3 = 24. Columns are vertical. 7 x 4 = 28. Am I missing something here?

row goes accross some 3 more slots and that makes it 24, and btw other characters like eraser and pusher already have a 24 slot grid and DV has a 28 slot grid.

No, that was simply the sound of my brain perceiving math errors where none exist and then doing something silly about it.  Carry on about your business!

I got an even better idea! How about removing the number of columns, thus increasing the amount of traffic (as perpendicular to it's spread) to, say, one column? This would make it fairy even for casual and pro, with the side lanes, but would be a significant challange for elite surfers.
Audiosurf is like a mix of tetris, need for speed and pot... Look at all the colours, dude!

Wait... so Mono would have one column of seven block spaces?

You'd need to do something about overfills, though. Or maybe that's just my puzzle brain...

I think that would be incredibly boring. Part of the challenge is figure out how to sweep across lanes to grab bricks that are diagonal from each other.
