Ok, don't worry, it doesn't start already again Currently, it seems like it will take at least one more month to prepare.

I'm still trying to get 4 Artists together which proves much more difficult than those 8 I already had ^^

Currently I have one confirmation, Two Backups (one of which is swiss german - so if you don't mind not understanding the lyrics... ^^) and 3 recent requests for further bands. Even though I'm trying to find something else than Metal, of course I'm looking primarily for this.

In order to get some different genres AND to actually fill the playlist for season 2, I want to ask you again to send me suggestions for Artists you would like to see in Season 2. As long as there's a contact possibility, I'm happy to request their permission. Preferably, the Songs have ~250 Traffic and are mid- to high speed. These are complex enough so identical scores should be ruled out, they're challenging enough for pros and aren't too hard for most beginners or advanced players. Lower Traffic will be changed with tags for Mono. I'm open for all sorts of suggestions.

The only real requirement I have: They have to be composed correctly. I have recently listened to our Airplay Charts, and almost half the songs were composed incorrect, having no structured rythm at all (sometimes, the bassbeat comes 1/16 too early while the next one comes 1/8 too late - or worse they aren't even structured with a rythm and are merely a put together beat with nothing but the voice in the focus. Man I hate having learned music theory, since then I can't stand Pop Music anymore, it's just wrong ^^)

Two questions, as a Pro, can I participate in the next tournament? If I entered with an elite character, I'd be pushing myself to come second last. And any idea when the next tourney will be?

Well as said, the Tournament won't be restarting until mid-february, depending on how fast I get a complete playlist. After all, the artists have to agree on being featured. I could feature most artists from Season 1 again - but that would be lazy, wouldn't it?

For Season 2, we WILL be doing a Vegas Board. Vegas is a separate character, and despite its high luck factor, I think it deserves a scoreboard even if it's not present in Elite. However, the other characters will still only be featured in Elite, it would simply be too much work to do all the boards for all the classes. This time however, you will have a full week to play, so even if you don't play too much elite, the finale of season 1 proved that this will lead to quite good scores even by those who rarely play that class.

Hey, I'm spending hours every week on organising it only with elite, it will almost triple if we take pro and casual in too.

I can see that I prepare everything as far as I can, but then there's also the Tournament HP, I don't know if blue_h3x has enough time to work on 14 scoreboards. If he says it's ok with him, I might try to prepare everything besides the scoreboards. That way the actual workload for the weekly overall-scoreboard would be reduced.

So for now the standing is "only vegas on pro". But the definitive decision will only be done about a week before the start.

If I can automate enough of it then maybe, but for the moment, no way can I deal with 14 boards.

The major issue is getting the scores from AS into the boards, as the tournament boards are separate from audiosurf boards.

You're right. I apologize for the reaction. If I could be of any help, I'm not too familiar with Audiosurf tournaments, but I have drawn up a few tourney's before. If you need a hand, gimme a yell!

0VERS33R : a quick catch up on how the tournament ran, save you reading masses of posts
The current method involved looking at the scoreboards after the round end and then manually assigning points depending on position and then manually adding them to a database. Doing this for 5 characters was time consuming enough, without increasing this to the whole character set. This is why it was limited it to the Elite field. Also as the scoreboards on the AS website only show a limited number, to play you had to add character specific tags to the song name to allow the tournament scores to be filtered from the main scores.

Adding more characters all depends on how much of this manual work can be reduced.

Partial Report

Well it's still some time until the second season can start, but we're closing in. So I want to give you a quick Heads Up about what we already have:

System:
We're going to play 4 Rounds, which will each start a Saturday and end the Friday after that. During this week, you're free to play as much as you like with any character you like, including pro and casual. For the automatic Score Upload, blue_h3x and ViRUS are developing a small program to do so. If you want to participate in the tournament, you will simply have to log into that program with your Audiosurf Login, as far as I know, there won't be more necessary. But I'm sure as soon as it's done, they will be able to tell you better than I am, I'm not more skilled in programming issues than a Three... ^^

Songs:
The Playlist is full by now, we've got sone very unknown Artists as well as for the finale a quite popular one. I also tried numerous of your suggestions, though they almost all came from the same people We actually got the permission to one of the requested songs. There are still some Song Requests pending, should any of them come back with a permission, I'll ask here again if we should use them as a 5th round or save them for Season 3 – if it happens.

Website:
There will be an updated Version of the Website, made by blue_h3x, on which we will display the overall scores as well as the information about this weeks song. This you will also be able to read here in the Forum, where the official announcement is done.

Dates:
There's still some Programming to be done, and I also don't yet have all the songs (delivery services in switzerland seem to have a very low quality standard as of late). We will probably not start it during february. A good guess would be that it's done somewhere in march, depending on when our work is finished.

Announcement:
If you want to keep track of the Tournament, just watch the Forum now and then. About 2 weeks before the start, I will open a new Thread explaining the rules.
Dylan also agreed to announce it on the Announcements Page, which will be done the day before the start to ensure a real time announcement. If you keep track of this, you won't miss it.

This is what we got so far. Again, we're happy to look over any suggestions you have to improve the tournament. I'd like to thank the people helping me with the organisation either by suggesting songs or by programming Stuff for it. One more reason why it would not be legally correct to call it „Saeda's Tournament“
