Might just be Q3D strikes again.

No, it's that overlay mode can't run alongside Aero (because MS are lazy, at the most it should require Aero to be restarted). VLC and Media Player Classic will both do it if you set them with an overlay renderer in the options.
In the case of fergtm's app, it does it before you even start Audiosurf.

Here is an idea that I have been playing with, even if it is only remotely related.

If your trying to make a video (like what I'm attempting to do), then you could set the background as one color and the possible choices for the block indexes to exclude that color.

They you would have a background similar to a green-screen.

From there you could potentially use chroma-keying software to add in a video in the background.

I will certainly play with this gif animation, as there are tons of possibilities.

Since our lovely programmer here was kind enough to release the source, I decided I would make it more friendly.

I didn't do much in terms of improving the animated background process itself, just thought I'd make it a bit easier to use.

Download links are attached.

Have fun everyone! Big thanks to OP for making this too! :D

Here's the change log:

Code: [Select]
Version 1.0.0.1 by HypnoToadTrance

- Gave this program a simple icon. I love it when programs have icons. :3

- If Textures folder cannot be found, it prompts you to find it, rather than exiting.

- Memorizes custom folder location so you don't have to keep re-selecting it.
