Animated Skysphere!
« on: August 07, 2009, 05:28:18 pm »
Well, I've searched the forums thoroughly, but I can't figure out how this was done.
Is there a mod or program that I missed, or is this just clever video editing?

As far as I know, you can NOT put a movie as the skysphere.  However, many video editing programs DO allow you to overlay another video over all of a certain color, here I would assume it was overlaid on the color black.  The people shooting past are just a simple tunnel texture replacement.

that very easy to do

it is just a editing trick he mostly likely made a green-screen like skyspehre than edited in what you see.

no kidding most of the people here turn down the graphics setting when there playing for scores because the motion blur and black flash/glow thing are distracting.

but it does make a cool effect for vids so if anyone wanted to try this just make a skysphere using a colour that doesn't show up while playing the game than use your video editor to replace that colour with an other video.

ok this is a simple video effect:one has only to audiosurf have a black background.
I'm working with sony vegas, this is then just a simple cut together from the two videos.

Some time ago I made an small program to test some DirectX things. Anyway I was bored today and decided to modify it so it could enable animated skyspheres in Audiosurf.

Currently it only supports animated gifs. Also it probably doesn't work with all video cards or windows versions (I only tested it on windows vista with an nvidia card).

If you decide to try it please tell me if it works.

Also, I found that having an animated background is not as distracting as you think.

EDIT: It seems to be working, please go to this post to download it http://www.audio-surf.com/forum/index.php/topic,5535.0.html
