Unicode + 32/64-bit tests.
« on: June 25, 2009, 12:05:07 pm »
Got round to trying to fix the unicode and 64-bit issues that have been plaguing my mods.

This is just a small application, ideally I'd like as many people to try it as possible please!
Just unzip it and run AudiosurfUnicodeTest.exe, browse to a file (preferably with a non-ANSI filename), fire up Audiosurf and hit "play" when you get to the character screen.

All being well, it should just play the track.

Whether it works or not, please post a response:
Please state:
 1) Whether it worked.
 2) The OS (i.e. XP, Vista, Windows 7)
 3) Whether you're using a 32-bit or 64-bit version.
 4) Which DLL it reported (see bottom box in screenshot).

Thanks!
If this works well then I'll integrate these into AS Prodder and Super Playlist Surf! ASAP (and release the source).

I tested it.

1. Worked fine
2. Windows XP SP3
3. 32 bit version
4. "Using 32-bit DLL"

So I assume everything went right...

Oups XD

1. Worked fine
2. Windows 7 RC
3. 32-bit
4. 32-bit DLL

EDIT

Also, I have Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit.  But I'll have to install Audiosurf on the Vista partition.  But, if it works with Win7, I guess it works with Vista.

No need to, just navigate to where Steam is installed from Vista, run Steam.exe, then launch Audiosurf normally. It should work fine.

1. Communication with Audiosurf fails
2. Windows 7 RC
3. 32bit DLL
4. 32bit DLL

Worked a few things out.
All that 32/64 bit shenanigans wasn't necessary it turns out, but it was interesting anyway (for me at least).

Quickly written a small class called Asi in C# and VB for anyone to use. This code comes with no warranty, you use it at your own risk, if it destroys your computer or eats your neighbour's kittens don't blame me.
That said you can use it for whatever you want, including evil plots to take over the world and/or controlling sharks with lasers on their head.

Binaries included as well. Enjoy!

Quick demonstration in VB.NET of receiving data back from Audiosurf.
It's not particularly pretty, sometimes over-runs and has no Unicode support, but there's enough there to work with for now. :)

Same disclaimer/licence thing as before.
