Is audiosurf a rhythm or a puzzle game?
« on: January 27, 2008, 11:52:27 pm »
There seems to be some disagreement on this matter. Audiosurf reminds me of harmonix's Frequency and Amplitude games, so I always think of it as a rhythm game with a unique puzzle/matching mechanic.

Other's seem to think it's a puzzle game that happens to take place over the course of a song. I'm curious to know what everyone really thinks defines the two genres.

Dylan: what do you envision the game as?

I think it's a trippy game.
It's genre bending... I don't consider it either. I think of it as an "Interactive Music Visualizer... With Added Puzzle Aspect For More Goal-Oriented Gameplay"

Yeah, I kinda think it's genre bending and completely unique. While I see how it could be considered both, I don't think it's either. I'd like to hear what Dylan thinks, though! :D

The answer is quite simply 'yes'. The class you chose greatly changes the opinion on this.

with the big difference that for vib ribbon timing was too important..I played the game once and I missed everything because I pressed the buttons too early or too late

I think audiosurf is way better
