Whoa, something fishy is going on here.
« on: April 05, 2009, 10:11:57 am »
Ladies and Gentlemen, I want to draw your attention to the casual scoreboard for one of this week's radio songs. (Please see the attached picture.)

Scalindor's mono score on "Shadow Dancer" stands a whopping 80k above the rest. The other scores are clustered into a tight grouping with a range of 14k (about 3.5% difference between the highest and lowest of the non-Scalindor mono scores.) Scalindor's deviates by 22% from the average.

Now consider that Casual leaderboards are typically dominated by pointman scores, especially for songs under 300 traffic. "Shadow Dancer" boasts a mere 211 with ironmode enabled. As a matter of fact, Scalindor himself has been a notable pointman casual player... why the sudden switch to mono? And how does his score differ by such a great margin from the rest? Shouldn't pointman scores still come out ahead?

I think there is something fishy going on here. I don't mean to suggest that this score discrepancy is the result of outright cheating, but perhaps it is due to other factors, such as a game bug had by the player in question.

To rectify this issue I would like to see either:
a) A video from Scalindor illustrating how he obtained the score
b) Scores that "fill in" the gap and create a more normal distribution
c) Alternative explanations of this anomalous score.

Server hiccup? Sent the wrong character code?

Green = listening, red = surfing

I considered that, but the tag shows he earned Stealth. Though perhaps it crossed the character code AND bonus award report with someone else's?

While this very well may be a cheated score, I would be careful with calling thing like this.  I myself have gotten scores that are a good 100k above the others, albeit not on any popular songs, since mono can't do much there.

I just had a couple runs too (1 with and 1 without ironmode) and had 400k ish both times (clean/stealth/21). Messing with which blocks to miss for larger matches might pull that up +10-20k, but i cant see +100k... the blocks themselves are worth almost nothing, and the ability to hold chain just isnt there.

But then i see odd or impossible looking scores on the boards all the time, so whatever.

I also tried it, and I think that by making a rapid succession of small matches (by leaving out some blocks) for boosting your chain in certain parts of the songs, you could get a significantly higher score than those 400k scores, so 450k might be possible. But 500k... maybe. In any case, I would really like to see the video.

wow! i never think about that dschallert made scandal about that... now i know... if I beat you you consider me and a fucking cheater  >:(

I didn't know about this problem until a friend told me about that, I have beeen very busy to play audiosurf again... now i wonder what do you want to prove?... do you want an explanation? well here we go...

a FUCKING BUG!

Happy?

I don't have problems to return to audiosurf an make an a fucking video to you, but make the bug?

bug: i don't know what kind of bug was that, since I did "ctrl+alt+del", the game was very awful to play, the song with low intensity was very fast, in contrast the songs with high intensity was vey low an very short for example: if have a duration of 3:50 , the program short it in 3:14, it's an example... well i think that the problem was playing audiosurf in a public internet, i don't know the origin of the problem.

"runtime c++" or something like that was the title... ALL for tried to play in the "recently songs", somebody get it until now?

========================

now I'm considering if i beat you in a song... will you consider me a cheater?
play with point only when i return to audiosurf i beat you everytime that i can ... don't fuck me... "sorry for my regular english and my HARD WORDS, but I'm very angry only for made a "scandal"...

this is all....
sincerely
Scalindor

They didn't because they couldn't care less about something non-Elite, I'm completely sure that if DJRaziel cheated on the Elite scoreboard, you'd see them crying about that here...

http://www.audio-surf.com/forum/index.php/topic,4893.msg50246.html#msg50246
I made an old topic, if you can remember about DJRaziel, i didn't take a screenshot of pedro macedo camacho before, But if you ask them they recieved an "detrhoned email" of DJRaziel in the song Pedro Macedo Camacho - Audiosurf Overture, now his score have been removed....

and "THEY "KEN_SCT" AND  "LETHARGY" DON'T MADE AN A SCANDAL LIKE YOU (dschallert) FOR THAT..."

LAST EDIT :

TO : Laserrobotics, Devil_Spawn, lavacano201014, dschallert, Ko-Tao, Lu Tze ... ESPECIALY : dschallert AND Devil_Spawn

Do you know the difference betwen Cheat and Exploit??

An exploit (from the same word in the French language, meaning "achievement", or "accomplishment") is a piece of software, a chunk of data, or sequence of commands that take advantage of a bug, glitch or vulnerability in order to cause unintended or unanticipated behavior to occur on computer software, hardware, or something electronic (usually computerized). This frequently includes such things as violently gaining control of a computer system or allowing privilege escalation or a denial of service attack.
========================================================
Cheating is an act of lying, deception, fraud, trickery, imposture, or imposition. Cheating characteristically is employed to create an unfair advantage, usually in one's own interest, and often at the expense of others.[1] Cheating implies the breaking of rules. The term "cheating" is less applicable to the breaking of laws, as illegal activities are referred to by specific legal terminology such as fraud or corruption. Cheating is a primordial economic act: getting more for less, often used when referring to marital infidelity. A person who is guilty of cheating is generally referred to as a cheat (British English), or a cheater (American English).

Hence my final statement; ive seen enough strange but potentially possible scores to know better than to call hax on every unusual case. For all i know, you got a lucky ash that allowed unbroken chain through the whole song or something similar... my only comment was that such a score wasnt possible for me.

Otoh, your supernova response certainly brought the lulz! :D

CALM DOWN.

I'm going to lock the thread if anybody makes another outburst.  Scalindor, all you needed to say was that it was a bug that caused the score, and that would be that.  You might want to reread the exact details of my earlier post, also.

What makes me think this is suspicious, is the heavy defensive you put on, when dschallert clearly states that he doesn't necessarily mean you're cheating. If this is just a bug, then say that, don't just go into an internet roid rage.
