considering it's not possible to score more than 800k with DVE in this song (even then, you have to get lucky as hell), this guy's score seems legit :)

He came out of nowhere, Decybel, that is... I mean seriously, I really doubt that is legit... I've seen other scores that don't seem at all realistic from him too.
Well, I'm not calling BS on this just yet. The next highest DVE score I've seen was a 773k, so this isn't too far a stretch, though I don't see anyone surpassing this score with DVE. It was probably a combination of luck (like macho said) and placement of blocks on the track.

With DVE you get the 100% bonus of Pusher AND you can collect whites, and you also have a significantly larger board. On a few songs, DVE should be able to compete with Pusher.

Since he also participates in radio songs, simple cheating is ruled out (actually I don't even know how to cheat on a radio song...). I think his scores are at the very upper limit of what is still possible, but, yeah, it's really close...

Decybel, please try to record a part of one of your runs. Fraps+half resolution @ 60fps or sth. might slow down your game so you make more mistakes, but it should still be ok to give us an idea of what you are actually doing, because I am really curious about how to play DVE.

Agreed ~~ but I think the only way I'd play DVE is if I could use two mice heh

The keyboard annoys me, even if it's only two lanes. maybe I'd get used to it after a while... doubt it

Well, on a regular song you can just replace the ash files or retag (which ultimately has the same result), but on a radio song you can't, since they are part of the cgr-file. If you replace those, you can play an older radio song, which is also nice, but it's still the same song and track.

But it's apparently possible to cheat somehow, I think the Pointman Casual top score for the overture is something clearly impossible right now. (300k with Mono or sth.)

What do you mean "isn't too far"? :) Last time I checked, the guy had 3 million points :)

its perfectly possible to just memory edit your raw score just before the finish.

They're not talking about the guy who's in the top spot, but the guy who was at the bottom of the board. He had 800k something

Meh, wish I could get 800k. Oh well, 600k is good too.

Heh... actually, the listed #4 and #5 scores (Chroust and FirelanderX) are false too, though not due to cheating; the track shape and bonuses indicate they just failed to use the modified ash file.

Where can I get this modified ash file? I feel pretty out of the loop on this one...

Oh nevermind lol I thought there was some sort of ash file that everyone uses just to make sure everyone starts with an equal chance or something...

The Ballade of Blocks zip contains it, along with the song itself. Place the ash file in your audiosurf/engine/audiosurfHC folder and youll get the proper 1200/red version of the song instead of the 50/purple version that the default ash generates.
