Unicode update testing - take 3

Just download the zip file and extract it to Steam\steamapps\common\audiosurf\. Then run the game as normal.

This one:
--Goes fullscreen if you tell it to in config.ini (You're welcome lavacano)
--Goes fullscreen if it detects SLI (Thanks Lavos. This does a couple extra things -like read the config file and try to detect SLI- before going fullscreen, so hopefully it still fixes the SLI crash)
--Empty scoreboard rows can no longer show names (thanks ViRUS)
--Everything can now be translated (thanks ViRUS)
--Comments no longer send a "|" (thanks ViRUS)
--Spacebar won't toggle autopilot when window doesn't have focus (thanks ViRUS)
--Visualizer no longer ended by ironmode collisions (thanks Lavos)
--Shows the powerup multiplier value on Minimal (don't remember who found this...)
--Preloads all localization textures (thanks ViRUS)
--Deletes old radio files for real now (thanks Devil_Spawn)
--Can jump to a letter in the song browser (press a key)
--Fixes recent rides

Thank you testers! It's really nice to find and fix this stuff before it goes out wider.

Works perfectly! And about time, too! :P

No way of testing that here :P

Oh no it isn't, I spotted two more :P:



I know the News may not be translated every week (it's logical to do that), but at least the NEWS texture should be localizable.

Confirmed all of those. It was me the one of the value on Minimal, BTW =P

Now, bugs/ideas/improvements/etc:

1. Ship should be stuck at the middle lane when using Visualizer
2. When using Visualizer, every block that passes by should make the background textures explode, it looks way cool! (to try this right now, enable Ironmode, use Visualizer and wait you ship to hit block that's on the middle lane)
3. If you're not going to implement no. 2, then make it so the blocks that hit the ship with Ironmode doesn't explode the textures.
4. When I press a letter on the filebrowser, the slide dissapears. It comes back after I use the mousewheel or press anywhere on the slidebar.
5. I liked the loader with the Audiosurf logo way more ^^
6. It would be great if Audiosurf detected Steam's interface language and loaded the correct .xml and textures, if this is not possible, an option on the Options menu should be OK, too
7. The shurikens bug it's still happening
8. The -Unattained- text on the Achievements it's still over Royal Ride.

nothing more ^^

For the changing of language, steam definitely supports this feature (right click properties inside steam on team fortress 2, left 4 dead etc) so maybe you can set it up to work with that.

The deleting of old radio works great now, however it deletes good old audiosurf overture on every startup.

@VIRUS strange, my scroll bar stays.

--It does read the language from the Steam setting, but right now it's only looking for languages that it knows it supports
--The shuriken bug is actually a side effect of the eraser change (instant erase). The effect flies up from each deleted block.
--Could you take a screenshot of the "-unattained-" problem please. It looks ok on mine.
--Visualizer explosions: I'm not sure if I like that better or not. I'll play with it.

Could you send me the Audiosurf font for the textures then? Or, if you like Segoe UI as the spanish font, I'll PM you with the finished translation so you can officially add it ^^

Do it Eraser-only then, it looks awkward on Ninja Mono (IMO, at least)

I was wondering, is it possible to fix one of the most long-running bugs of audiosurf? Basically, when the steam servers are down for routine maintenance, the game boots up in offline mode (probably because steam friends is offline).

I'm assuming this is because the game is meant to boot into offline mode when steam is also in offline mode, however you may have used the wrong flags or something from steam, as it pays attention to friends instead.

I'm with dylan on the particles thing, its just a bit too much really.

There isnt any chance of any new achievements is there? :p

I'll look again at the Steam API and see exactly where I'm pulling the isOffline value from. Maybe it can be fixed.
I'll probably do more achievements, but not in this patch. Have any in mind?

On the subject of translations, line 46 and line 210 have extra brackets which shouldn't be there, in both EN and RU.

I'd like the fonts as well to change the textures, or I can send you a list of what they should be and you can change them.

This is just a minor typo, but I thought I should point it out. It's located in the Strategy Guide, page 9.

The last word of the first bullet should be "points."

Yes, AA was removed because it was just leading to too many problems. It'll will be supported in options.ini or you can force it in the driver settings.

LOL, never bothered, anyway I dunno why I haven't earned any of the Stealths one since I always play Mono...

Good to know, I'll try to download it and will be re-editing the textures as soon as I get to my home :D
