Unicode update testing - take 2
« on: January 28, 2009, 03:49:51 am »
http://media.audio-surf.com/Audiosurf_UnicodeUpgradeBeta_1.28.09.zip

Compared to the previous version of the upgrade, this one changes:
--Spanish (and other) characters now translated correctly (I hope)
--runtime errors in Vista at load
--missing background particle effects
--named window back to "Audiosurf"
--recent songs list fixed
--lane lines rendering under road surface on bumps

Please start clean when testing with this one since some files have been removed. If you tried yesterday's unicode upgrade, delete the local game content from within Steam and then delete the remaining contents of steam\steamapps\common\audiosurf manually. Then re-download Audiosurf from within Steam. Then extract the patch into steam\steamapps\common\audiosurf and run it normally.

Or you could follow Lavos' directions in the previous thread to clean up the extra files before applying the new patch.

Thanks again for all the help finding bugs!

lol, joking, I'll try it as soon as I finish downloading the game :D

EDIT:

· This was a triumph:

· I'm making a note here, huge success!

· But it seems now that every time you highlight the row that's BELOW a name on the casual scoreboard, it repeats the above name without a ship or score

· It still didn't load some translated buttons (the ones I sent you on the MP, the Fullscreen button, My Music & Radio tabs and such), I have to press F6 to manually load them.

· The recent song list isn't fixed:

If I click on any of the two empty song notes, the game will crash.

· The problem with the lines under the road on minimal IS fixed

to save a substantial amount of time, delete all teh files as above, but do not delete the orange box soundtrack.

Also still seeing the same problem with the recent songs list. :(
Same as before, clicking on the items listed causes an immediate crash.

i know that the whole point of minimal mode is to get max framerate from really low end setups, which it does certainly do on my weaker system, however, i think that the viewable block count is too low, as when playing one of the radio tracks i only had a very small amount of distance between where blocks appeared and the car

I don't think it's any different than the other modes actually.
What is different is where the road appears, which makes the blocks seem to appear closer.

But I may be wrong.

Stepping by just to say that I made some modifications to my translation, fixed some errors and such. If anyone wants to give it a try, you can download it HERE :)

- Game STILL DOES NOT LOAD config.ini
- Game adds Unicode characters of some Asian Variety or other to my comments box before my comment. It didn't send, though.

Green = listening, red = surfing

OK, two more errors popped up, both in the Comments tab:

· When you send a comment, it also sends the cursor as one more character, so everything you send will have "|" at the end ("WOW, nice song|", for example)

· When you move the scrollbar on the comments, instead of scrolling the comments it "deletes" character by character the nickname/comment that is on the top and then writes it again when you scroll it back up, image:

EDIT:

OK, another bug, it seems that the "Logoff" button is missing on the scoreboards when you finish playing a song.

I actually wrote this up in my post, and was going to suggest to add it. But, after thinking it through, I took it out. It would of been a bit of a pain of when to show it and when not to, because if you're already logged in then it'll automatically send your score, and you can't logout while it's sending the score cause I assume that'll screw it up.

Other one: If I press the spacebar while having Audiosurf on Freeride and Always on top, no border using YAAP, every time I press it it will activate/deactivate the autopilot, doesn't matter if Audiosurf window has focus or not.

Linux player here, so a lot of the problems I'm seeing are going unreported (for now, at any rate.  Once this hits final, I'm probably going to get more proactive about filing bugs for this game), but I'm thinking this is probably universal:
Ironmode and Freeride Visualizer do not mix. ;)

I'm assuming people are able to log in properly and the horrible mangling of text I'm getting when I type is a Wine bug, yes?

OK, third revision of my translation, I'm sure this is the final one and the fourth will be necessary only to add the non-localizable strings ^^

Good finds guys. I've fixed most of these, but I won't have a new patch ready until sometime tomorrow.

What do you think of seeing the "neon cliff" below the road? This is the first version of the game that shows it so the road is not quite as dark as it used to be.

I dont really have any feelings either way about it, however it seems to fit in a lot better on the black background (that has the coloured track) than the other two.

I dont like no longer being able to set antialiasing modes.
