Mincus, you may want to dive in your code to check why the News page doesn't show up if we start Audiosurf thru' your Playlist Addon.    Far from being a priority though.

It's not supposed to.
It tells Audiosurf to quickstart, which skips the news and seizure warning pages.
The alternative is to work like YAAP and only register with Audiosurf when the user tells me to.

Well, it's because, last time, before the upgrade, I would see the news anyway.
That's why I thought it wasn't normal.

It's always skipped past the news.
You might have seen it before because generally the game loaded more slowly than the news was downloaded.
Dylan's now changed the behaviour so that with quickstart the news isn't shown.

SPS is designed to be as simple as possible to use when interacting with Audiosurf, so it does all the checking/registering automatically in the background, a by product of this is that if you start Audiosurf AFTER SPS you won't now see the news.
If you want to see the news, start Audiosurf first.

That explains everything now.

Any news on the V2?

EDIT

I seem to experience random freeze while using your addon with the new version of Audiosurf.  That freeze occurs when it's time to load the song.

EDIT 2

Forgot an important detail : It froze after I click "End song" because I did not want to play that song...

is there a way to play freeride in classic mode, instead of in visualizer mode where the ramp is turned sideways?

And is there a way to choose which song you want to start with, instead of it just starting a random song?

Unfortunately not. The WM_COPYDATA interface was made before there were two visualiser modes and hasn't been updated since.

Switch off random and it will play the tracks in order.

No, it can't do that.
Source code is available if you want to implement it yourself though.

Sorry for the thread steal, but I think YAAP can do this.

Now, Mincus, I'm really pissed off by this bug I have with SPS.  No, it's not the freezing issue we already discussed.
It's SPS is unable to register the window.  It stays in "Audiosurf found, registering window..." forever.  It makes it useless.  I know the solution though : Restart the computer.  Oh yeah, I'll restart my computer every time SPS bugs... that's pathetic.  Happens on both my Vista and Win7 RC installations.

Here is a screenshot... :

It's EXTREMELY annoying.  No matter what I do (change the directory name, restart Steam, Verify the AS cache, redownload SPS, etc etc etc), it won't change anything.

EDIT

It won't matter if I open AS first or if I open AS with SPS...  same thing.

Also, just did a restart.  And, like I said, it corrected the problem.  Another thing I forgot to say is that I got an error ealier with Audiosurf (while using SPS).  I got a "Playback Error: 2" (for some X reason... both SPS and Audiosurf takes Unicode right?).

Have you tried clicking on Audiosurf to make it active on the times it doesn't work? Audiosurf typically doesn't do jack shit when it's not active: Doesn't reject things, doesn't load songs, nothing.

Green = listening, red = surfing

Indeed, you need to give AS focus for it to do things

I too have had the "registering window" problem, the game will load and will play 1 random song then when I click on continue instead of picking another random song it takes me straight back to the games main menu, although it happens rarely for me it is still annoying as no matter how many times I reload A/S or SPS it still sticks on the registering window message.

I get the playback error 2 frequently as well.

I don't understand what you mean by making Audiosurf "active" ?

If it means to load in audiosurf before using SPS then that doesnt solve the first issue as I have tried doing that in the past.  As for the second issue it seems to be completely at random when  I actually get it, sometimes can be after playing 2 random songs other times after say 10 songs .. or anything inbetween..

I think lavacano201014 means give audiosurf focus, ie click on it so it's the window you're currently using
