Ride videos from YouTube
« on: October 23, 2008, 04:22:12 pm »
Now I found a way that we can surf videos from You Tube.

First you find what video you want. Copy and Paste it.

Then go to http://youtubedownload.altervista.org/ Download the You Tube downloader( If you are afraid of virus's see the bottom)

Install the download and after that, open it up. Put your cursor over the "Enter Video URL" and it should put it in automatically.(If it doesn't just paste the link in there)

Click OK and wait for it to download it. After it is done click the Convert Video (Previously Downloaded) from file.

Under the Convert to... go to MPEG Audio Layer 3. Press OK. Then choose your quality. Wait for the convert and there. Depending where its converted to, you can listen to it.

Now open Audio Surf, find the file, and there. Your now surfing on your You Tube videos

*Some of you you may not find this useful, but in the past I have seen people request to ride videos.

** If you are afraid of virus's, click on the link, and this will show you that the file is indeed safe. If you get a virus, please post it here.

Well, you're not riding videos, you're riding normal MP3s with the videos' audio

This is stupid as anything. You're surfing an audio file that's been converted from 64kb/s mono 22Khz to some even worse MP3 quality, AND you have all the Audiosurf sounds over it.

Just torrent the proper 320kb/s. AND I see you're using IE from that failure link, you don't know enough about anything to give advice to others, Your Local Spy.

And finally, the YouTube Terms of Service states that content uploaded to YouTube are property of Google, and downloading from YouTube is illegal, thereby, linking this program on here you're incriminating the ones responsible for this forum, Dylan and Lebeth. Are you trying to get Dylan sued?

I vote this be deleted, thanks.

Ignore Lavos^, he's an asshole. Also if you're going to use this software, you'd better only be doing it for youtube videos that contain audio you own the rights to ;)

Also, lavos, given that his link says the client is an IEPlugin whose version is 2.8.292, it sounds more like he's got some mcafee software installed that loaded a windows plugin or something

Which is just as bad.

And why ignore me? You condone getting music from a 65kb/s mono source and then convert it again into mp3? And no matter what you say, it is actually against YouTube's Terms of Service.

I'm less concerned about youtube's tos and more concerned about posts containing material that could potentially infringe on copyright laws. I don't at all condone ripping music from youtube, it's really the worst place to get it; but not everyone is an audiophile and plenty of people don't give a damn if it's 64kbit or lossless flac

Well this topic is encouraging using a program which can take an mp3 from a video, so it IS infringing on copyright really, you can take any artist's song.

And I'm not an audiophile, people who think FLAC is noticeably different to a 320Kb/s are idiots. But this is 64kb/s mono we're talking about. At least get a 128 stereo. >.> I thought you were one of the bum-FLAC people anyway?

I am. I love flac. That said, I also value other peoples' opinions and choose to let sleeping dogs lie rather than attack anybody whose opinion differs from mine.

Well, I'm thinking about it from an Audiosurf perspective too. Not only does this give you a song which is incredibly bad to listen to, and it would be ridiculous to put songs downloaded this way in your library, but it also promotes people having different track shapes/traffic in AS, which isn't a good thing.

I didn't attack him because our opinions differed, I attacked him so maybe others won't follow the same path of downloading and playing less-than-sub-par mp3s. People who don't know a lot about computers and codecs and stuff may think "OMG yes now I can get any mp3 for free!" and I just want to inform them that they're awful quality and not worth their time. A review, if you will.

its not just the quality... really low quality mp3s can really mess with audiosurfs track layouts etc, making things even more unfair than usual
