Steam
« on: October 23, 2008, 02:56:52 am »
Has anyone had experience with Steam Support? How fast do they react?

Some jackass somehow hijacked my account (no, I hadn't logged in elsewhere nor given out password to anyone). And, obviously, the e-mail, password is changed etc and so on.

Are my purchase e-mails (well, one actually) enough to prove my ownership of account? (I can throw in credit card info).

It's not HUGE loss money-wise, but still, I'm not gonna pay them again, even for AS, if those jackasses are so easily hack-able.

Follow the instructions in that article. Don't try to post in Steam forums, cause the people there are assholes waiting to troll you.

I submitted a case yesterday (this morning actually... 0:15 or so), so I was just wondering, whether I should keep waiting, as in, what are my chances of getting account back, or should I just wait for a miraculous-AS-CD-release.

That's why there's "miraculous" in front of that thing.

Damn the steam support, still no answer...

response time for steam can usually be measure in days, i would sit there f5'ing your inbox or anything

what i can safely tell you is that your loss of account is _your fault_ - nobody elses

you probably either got keylogged, put your details into a site, or perhaps you use the same password for other stuff and entered it into a phishing site or something?

anyway, however it happened, it is not to do with steams security at all.

Whatever it was - I take back whatever I may have said about steam, and address it to "panic attack", "heat of the moment" or something, because they responded in less than 24 hours and everything is back to normal.

I should buy more games from steam, lol.

My new password is, theoretically, impossible to crack.

It's far too long for brute force, and contains no real words. And I remember it.

ime steam support is pretty decent. had my account hijacked once waay back when hl2 first came out. just provided enough info to the point that it was entirely obvious that I was the owned of the account and the support guy reset it all for me.

STFU with that please. This is the response that Steam forums should stop giving. Steam support is good, you'll just need to wait 3-5 days.
