This my first time using Wine. I can't get passed the audiosurf splash screen, clicking everywhere. It's as if my mouse clicks aren't being registered. What am I doing wrong?

I also want to express my interest in Audiosurf compatibility with WINE.

It works quite well and I've been able to play for hours without a crash, but yeah there's a few bugs with it.
- The offset splashscreen isn't that big of a problem as simply clicking "fullscreen" fixes this. You simply need to aim your mouse at where the "fullscreen" button is supposed to be and not where it actually is displayed.
- Getting past the splashscreen: I've encountered this too, but apparently this happens even to windows users. Hitting enter may help here, but i'm not 100% sure wether it's actually hitting enter that gets me past or wether the click just gets registered with a large delay...
- I noticed that sometimes my mouse seems to not work properly. i.e. after playing a track for a few minutes I suddenly can't move left anymore, it almost seems like the game (or wine) thinks that the mouse is already at the leftmost edge of the screen and doesn't relay mousinput in that direction anymore. Have any windows users experience this or is this a linux only problem? Moving the mouse hard right and then moving it "past" the border allows me to move left again.
- The in game song browser lists all folders/songs on one line - it seems that the game doesn't get the linux linebreaks. Instead there's "<<" between folder and "<" between songs. This might be relatively easy to fix in game (i.e. simply parse the folder list and convert these symbols to linebreaks), so maybe the audiosurf developers can do something about this, I know wine is not supported but as this seems to be only a tiny fix maybe there's a chance of seeing this fixed anyway?

Yes thats true, using windows I must put my mouse on the "Play" button and then press my enter key. This must work for linux too, put your mouse at the place the "Play" button is or where it is supposed to be and press enter

Hi guyz, I'm trying to run audiosurf on ubuntu through wine but I have some problems.
I've been able to install the game, but I can't launch it. when first I checked the "launch now" option, at the end of the installation process, the error message "it seemed that Quest3d is not correctly installed, or this viewer is run from the wrong directory"*appeared.
the same thing happens if I try to launch the game from the "launcher.exe".
instead, if I simply click the "audiosurf.exe" or I choose "open with wine" nothing happens..really nothing.
so, what I've done wrong? I'm using the latest version of wine and ubuntu as some other people said here, but still I'm not able to play.
I don't know very well how to use wine as I downloaded it now only for audiosurf, so maybe I only have to config something.. I dunno.. please, does anyone have any hint?
thx guys, the game is amazing and I can't wait

One more person here who's using audiosurf on Linux. Basically my problems have already been said:
The splash is offset. Pressing fullscreen fixes this
Going windowed after having been fullscreen resizes the window but not the content, so further interaction is impossible
The in-built browser has everything displayed on one line, the windows browser sends the game to windowed mode
The mouse sometimes seems to reach the edge of the screen whilst playing, so the ship gets stuck in the middle - rather annoying. Shoving the ship up against the other side of the track fixes this (for a while)
All gameplay is fine (apart from the mouse-sticky-thing) and grrreat! I entreat you guys to work with the wine developers to iron out these few bugs. Then you can brand it as wine compatible or compile with winelib or something.
I'd also like to echo a sentiment expressed a bit back - I only now buy games that work on Linux, at least through wine. If they have poor wine performance, I don't buy them. Linux gamers are an expanding breed!

the title of the error message is: quest3d viewers registry key not found!
so I guess I only miss the registry key.. if you tell me which is and the location maybe I can grab it from windows and import it in the fake wine system.
can somebody help me?

I have the following problems:
-Splash screen as said before
-File browser
-MP3 files can't be played because of missing DirectShow filter
-WMV videos don't play (however, they didn't even play for me when using Windows)
-Premium video mode doesn't work well (perhaps there are some shaders that fail to translate to GLSL)
Nothing else so far, didn't experience the mouse bug. I'm running openSUSE 10.3 with wine 0.9.55

ok, sorry if I bothered you.. looks like that wasn't my main problem.
I found in the HOME folder the icon to start the game and it starts, but ther's a big mess in the window and I can't click anything. on the bottom there's written "init error: 23".
that's all. so I really don't know what to do now.
any suggestion?

M1chel: Get the native DLLs quartz.dll and devenum.dll and set them to native only in winecfg. That should fix it.

Btw, I am actually using Arch linux and not Ubuntu.
I finally got the game working by installing steam and audiosurf with wine rather than crossover office (which was what I was doing before). So, if you want to play this game and you're running linux,
use wine
!
So far, my only complaints are, not only the mouse problem as mentioned before, but the bringing up the popup file browser: I couldn't get back into full screen.
