UT3 is a decent game if you give it a chance, what sucks is that nobody plays it. Though it is horrifyingly unpolished compared to ut99 and 2k4, it has good core gameplay and can be fairly enjoyable. I play pretty regularly and I still enjoy it.

I tried it right at launch time, and wasn't terribly impressed.  I'm not a huge fans of games that never really change.  Ooooh!  I just paid $50 to make my old game prettier.   ::)  Though 2k4 was pretty much the same, and I still played that one to death.  Maybe I'm just getting too old.   :-\

HEY YOU KIDS!!  GET OFF MY LAWN BEFORE I GOO GUN YOU TO DEATH!!!!

It's the worst game in the series by far. Mainly because it's Unreal TOURNAMENT, and there's no sign of a tournament anywhere, not even a mention. The WHOLE thing is vehicle-focused. There's like 2 levels at the start without vehicles that are good, then it takes a huge nosedive. The terrain is so big you basically need a vehicle to get around, and if you go up against someone in one you'll most likely die.

It would of made a fine off-shoot to another branch of games, but it's certainly no Unreal Tournament. If Epic release the next one the same as this, the series is dead.

I never said the single player is good... it's retarded. It has nothing to do with a tournament, it is entirely vehakl based (kids like vehakls these days), and the plot couldn't be more contrived and lame... they just tried to make it like Gears of War because they know kids are down with the intense football players from the future these days. But just because parts of the game are dumb doesn't make it bad, I only play online, and I only play free for all, duel, team deathmatch, and capture the flag - so none of that retarded crap pertains to me. Unreal Tournament never had a strong single player element, it's always been about multiplayer, and in multiplayer you choose your gametype. If you don't want to play with dumb vehicles, you don't have to.

If I wanted to play a game with vehicles, I'd play Tribes 2.

That's because they enabled mouse acceleration by default. And, like the geniuses they are, they removed pretty much all options from the menu. You need to go into your files and edit the .ini's manually.

There's tonnes of other tweaks as well. I couldn't get past the opening screen after installing, it would loop like 1 sec of audio on a black screen and then crash. I had to go and disable an option to get it to work. And to get a better FPS I had to go in and disable all the shit like HDR, bloom and glare and stuff.

the tracers and mouse control in ut3 are sloppy... it makes hitscan a lot less viable and dependable than in the past, this of course also means that instagib now sucks ass. though i never much liked it, too dumbed down.

I play UT04. I used to be able to play it fairly well, playing at high difficulty, cant remember what they called it, and still get a somewhat decent score, not winning really, but still close enough. Then I lost it when I had to reinstall Windows, along with the CD. So, about a year and a half later, I bought it on Steam so I wouldnt lose that shit again, and I'm back down to Experienced.

So he did. I don't know why it made a new topic saying it was moved. His post should of been on the end of the original thread or something.

I knew it. With your kinda aim you had to have been a UT player  ;D

Hardcore UT/Q3 players are the fastest thinking gamers.
