It took me two years to notice that audiosurf has this feature. I feel like I'm playing a whole different game!

Bankcam and 4lane are insane.  Feels like flying down an interstate on a guided missile.  As-steep always makes me smile, but I'd be careful what songs I'd apply that to... TTFAF would probably break my brain at those speeds.

As-swind just drives my eyes insane, tho.  Couldn't run one of this week's songs, the jiggling was just too much.

As-steep actually wouldn't change anything on TTFAF, because it's mostly "red" as it is. This tag seems to work by lowering the frequency range that it looks for to produce traffic until the track has at least one orange section. Sometimes it'll go even further and produce a lengthy red section, but not often. If the song's natural shape already has too much orange or in it, or any red whatsoever, there won't be any difference.

Incidentally, my favorite genre of music to use [as-steep] with is psytrance. Most psytrance songs aren't naturally very downhill (in my experience), but because the tempo is always so high, using as-steep on them will generally make the traffic ridiculously fast.

Sorry to bring this topic up again but I recently bought audiosurf and while youtubing, I did find few videos where theere were no greys.

I actually enjoy playing without the greys and just moving my mouse everywhere to catch the colored blocks.

From the descripsion, I was guided to this link.
I read the part where it says I have to add [as-nogrey] at the end of the song title to avoid having greys.

My first attempt did not work... "Driver's High [as-nogrey]" without the quote. I tried again but this time "Songtitle [as-nogrey]". I changed my title to "Songtitle" and it seemd to work... o.O...

I tried with other songs, "Communication [as-nogrey]" did not work... so I tried changing the "communication" to "Songtitle" like I did with the first attempt.. however it still seem to not work.. I am unsure of how this applies.. am I mssing something...

Thanks in advance.. :(

it's not the file name you need to change and add [as-nogrey] to the title in the id3 tag.

here is a link to a application made by a comminty member that does the tagging for you http://www.audio-surf.com/forum/index.php/topic,4125.0.html

--snipped issue--

Audiosurf only reads one of the ID3 version tags, I forget which. Try re-tagging using a program that differentiates between ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags.
Alternatively use one of the community taggers, as Passerby linked to.

I don't know if someone purposed this before but: I would appreciate a menu with many squares to mark that add the marked tag(s) to the song you're going to play.
Like for ironmode, but to use [as-step] I don't have to alt+tab the game and find the file and add the tag etc, but only to do some clicks in Audiosurf...

Would be nice yes, though in the mean while there's always YAAP that does that for you.

Whee! very very very VERY GOOD JOB! I dind't never try that when I downloaded that "lot of addons pack" because of the name, but I can understand why you used it. Definitely more than another audiosurf playlist! Now sorry but I go to play AS ;D trying some stuff like "no road"

I'd like to see a tag which disables Overfill.

Damn I got so annoyed when I fail again with my Eraser and lose over 10000 points xD

And a tag which enables powerups in Mono would be nice too :)

The question then would be what do you think would happen when the grid fills?  You can't do anything for the rest of the song?

I think he just wants it to clear the board/lane.

I think that would be a too easy getaway.

Please note that Dylan has added a consequence for failure for a reason.

[as-everybodymono] then play as Vegas.
Some of the powerups will create blocks that won't clear on their own though.
