I'm like the only one who has played songs by 絃奏水琴樂章, who do Touhou arrange albums.

Anyways, I'm surprised to see quite a few people playing melodic death metal. I just finished doing Beautiful Death by Wintersun, and saw two other people on the scoreboard.

Let me fix this for you.  I'll try to find some mp3 packs in IRC tonight. |3

Lol, I only played three of their tracks, and they were encoded with the wrong artist.
Here is one of them: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=9VQQ78DJ with the wrong artist, so my name should be up there hopefully.

Has anyone played any tracks from a Touhou mix? I was playing them, but didn't see anyone else on the scoreboard until right when the beta ended, so it looked more like a glitch.

Same here. Near the end of the beta, the scoreboards were empty. But yes, I did play a few Touhou songs, Phantom Ensemble first and foremost. I also played Necro-fantasy, Alstromeria Records "Masterspark feat. Ayaka," TAM's "ASIA Sophisticated ~Lunar Stream~," and "silentensemble." I was in the process of playing IOSYS's "Marisa Stole the Precious Thing," but the beta died somewhere around the first "DAWNTODAWNTODAWNTODAWNTODAWNTODAWN" part. I'm pretty sure there were one or two more I did and can't remember, along with an unholy amount I have still yet to try.

I don't remember which songs I did. I think I actually erased the Japanese characters from one of them to play it. But I have like 8 gigs of just Touhou remixes on my computer and its been taking me months to go through them all and sift out the good ones. "Marisa" by IOSYS is one I keep coming back to.

lol I've got you beat. I have 16.5 GB of just Touhou albums. I've got a long way to go before I play through all of that, if I ever do.

And I thought 8 gigs was too much. Your collection would take me a year or two to sift through!

A Touhou mix was the first song I tried when I heard of the game through a Steam update news, and I was going to try some more if the demo didn't expire. The song I played was a Necrofantasia mix by Liverne, from their album "Touhou Maboroshi Soumatsu Ten 2 "Canon"". I was suprised to see another person played it.
I also played Final Fantasy VI's Battle Theme redone by The Black Mages, and "The Final Sword Battle -The Dragon Vs The Transience" from the movie Seven Swords (nobody else played this one).
Demo expired after this.

Now I don't have either of you beat on that collection size, technically. But I am in the process of getting my Touhou music folder up to 23 gigs. I had to halt it until I get a HDD upgrade, which should be soon. Prepare to be outdone. :P

Hah, that person was me.  I love that Touhou album, it's one of my favorites.  Actually, I'd be lieing if I said that-- Anything TOUHOU related is my favorite.

BTW, are you getting that massive 25 gig torrent filled to the brim with touhou music? I'm in the process of getting that as well :D

WOW. I had no idea of the extremes that people went to in order to get some Touhou. Personally, I love the Touhou Project series (both games and music) and was pleasantly surprised to see a board with so many Touhou fans.

I really like Love-Coloured Master Spark (Imperishable Night), Stirring An Autumn Moon ~ Mooned Insect (Imperishable Night), and Lunar Clock ~ Luna Dial (Embodiment Of Scarlet Devil). Any Mono character is good with these songs because you can just whiz by at super speed. With the other characters, you have to plan out color matches, but with a Mono character all you do is grab the bricks. Seeing as how these songs are really fast and energetic, you'd have a lot more fun with a Mono character.

Oh yeah, one more thing...

Spell Card: Love Sign ~ Master Spark!!!!!!!!
(a big rainbow beam destroys everything on the forum)
HAHAHAHAHA
Dream Powerups
Hammer: When activated, clears the entire grid, gaining 20 points per brick cleared.
Boomerang: When activated, attracts all nearby bricks of the specified color. (Blue grabs blue, etc.)
Master Spark: Clears all gray bricks on the road for the next 5 seconds. Mono characters only.

No one is really into the music I like :-(

If anyone wants to challenge me on anything Herbie Hancock I'd be thrilled!

The trouble with classical music is that there are so many recordings, even more so with popular pieces. If you've played "Beethoven's 9th" or the "William Tell Overture", you could be talking about any one of dozens of recordings by dozens of symphonies from all over the world. I've played some of Andres Segovia's solo guitar stuff but that's about it.

Am I missing something, because the leaderboards for the songs I play are generally empty.

Or does no one here like the Grateful Dead or Jam Bands?

Sure do. I should have been born 30 years or so earlier, so I could have gone to their shows, except then I probably wouldn't have gotten into Audiosurf :-p
Riisi likes the suuuuugar.

What's more problematic is the impossibility to tag things consistently. But this is a problem with ID3 tags...and the way AS uses it.

You're on!  I bet Herbie Hancock is super fun.  Want to do an entire "Headhunters" challenge?  Name your track and character and I'll see that challenge.

On the flip side, I was quite surprised by how little competition I've had with most James songs.  Almost all of them are quite fun to play, and except for a few of the major singles, most songs only had two or so other names on the scoreboard.   ???
