1.111r is equal to 1.999r because it is equal. By definition of the word "equal".
only if r = 0
r means recurring you dumb shite.
___ ___
it's actually wrong then. 1.111 by definition is equal to 1.1 if you want to get specific. 1.999 is equal to 2.
You completely misunderstand the point of my trolling post. It was to make fun of demonic's reasoning behind his post. He said some number equals some number. And his proof for it was, "by definition of the word equal", so apparently by saying something is equal to something, then it just does because of the meaning of the word equal. So I posted to point out and mock how retardedly stupid his post is.
"The" equals "orange" guys. By definition of the word equal.
1 is still equal to 1 due to the definition of the word "equal".
are you saying that this is a retardedly stupid post? there's a law of mathematics that states the exact same thing.
No, I have no problem with that single sentence, stop taking things out of context. What I have a problem with is the whole post:
.999... is equal to 1, because .999... marks an infinity of 9s after the first three. However, the only number possible to come out of a infinity of decimals could be the next whole number. However, since it is physically impossible to mark an infinity of decimal 9s. 1 is still equal to 1 due to the definition of the word "equal".
Read it carefully, and you'll see that the only reason he gives is that he said it was equal, and by definition of the word, he must be right.
So, by the same logic, I can say anything equals anything, and because of the definition of the word equal, I'm right.
