Possibility of starting an addon website

Hello everyone.
I own a nameserver, and I also have the possibility of gaining access to average serverspace, and ontop of that, I enjoy designing websites.

I and a friend got the idea of using these three facts to make you all a neat little website where you can host and find different kinds of texture modifications for Audiosurf. Though before even starting such a project, I would like somewhat of approval from both members, moderators or the actual admin.

What do you all think? And no, I have never been good at making introductions. <_<

yes, would be great, however screenshots/movies would have to be required before an upload (or the server displays preview pics of the images uploaded.

Ofcourse there'd be movies and images for each upload - though those aspects are to worry about when the design and such is up and running. But I think I can promise that image and/or movie upload will be required for every each modification.

Don't do movies. There's really no need at all for a whole movie taking like 100MB to show off textures. It'll rape your bandwidth and make it slow for everyone. Images of each aspect are fine.

Yes, I've given that some thought. Though it would probably be possible to make simple image slideshows; that it shows one image for 5 seconds, then the next, or something of the kind.

On another topic; we're deciding to get a new domain name than the one we had at hand. Any suggestions?

audiosurfmods.com? Something like that, you could expand it to be more than just texture mods if any more are made possible, like character re-texturing or different models etc. Sound mods are possible as well, changing sound effects and such, just nobody has really bothered doing it.

Yes, though I was thinking of making it something more audiosurf-general. Like surfer, audiosurfer, etc etc.

Planet audio surf sounds like a gamespy-like site. But the person I'm doing this with also liked audiosurfmods.com, we'll see how things turn out. Keep posting suggestions though.

To give somewhat of maybe an unneccesary update; we will get started on design and coding as soon as we get an update on the case of the website's hosting. If we're lucky, we will get a 1gbit/1gbit connection.

As long as you have bought the domain, I can give you upwards of 400GB and 5TB bandwidth for free..
