His emphasis on state rights is good but it could backfire in certain states.  Racism, bigotry, and anything not of the "norm", is viewed as bad by most in the southern states.  It opens up an opportunity for the government of those states to discriminate against people's lifestyle, race, or choosing to get freaky with whips and chains.  Republicans (at least the breed of republican that exists now) would have a field day disrupting daily life with their new vastly increased authority.  The people we elect do not have the solutions to everything.  They are susceptible to negative influence.  For an example of this, all one must do is look at what the RIAA has "accomplished".  They throw around false statistics and our politicians, universities, and media feed into the bullshit.  Censoring the net would come down to scaring some hillbilly on a local level into believing that in order to protect the united states economy, they must mandate some kind of filter for the ISP's in that state.  It's not an area that I wish to venture into.  At least on a federal level, we know somewhat when we're getting screwed.

Racism is illegal.  Even if states were given the power they deserve and is delegated to them under the Constitution they couldn't pass laws that would be racist.  Even if the worst case scenario came true and they could, people would just move from that state.  Kinda like how people in a free market economy speak with their wallets, and if they don't like something they don't buy it...only with state laws.  Which is a benefit of giving states the right to make their own laws.  What am I saying...give them the right?  The right is guaranteed in the United States Constitution.  Article I Section 8 lists all the powers that the Federal Government is allowed to have.  That's it.  It is a hard and fast limitation on what the Federal government is allowed to be responsible for.  All the other powers of government are then State responsibility. 

According to the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution, all powers not delegated to the federal government by the states (in Article I, Section and not prohibited to the states in the Constitution (in Article I, Section 10) are reserved to the states or to the people.  Thomas Jefferson held that this principle formed the very foundation of our Constitution.  It was a guarantee that the experience Americans endured under the British would not be repeated, and that political decisions would be made by their own local legislatures rather than by a distant central government that would be much more difficult, if not impossible, for them to control.

I don't see where Republicans would get vastly increased authority by giving the States back their power to govern themselves.  It would only weaken the Federal Government. 

The RIAA is an example of a corrupt, totalitarian, monopoly.  It is what our Federal Government has put America into.  Our Federal Government is no different than a monopoly on our country.  They are above reproach or reform at this point.  The only way to change that is to put a man at the top with sincere principles and good ideas.

Ron Paul, the New York Post once wrote, is a politician who "cannot be bought by special interests." 

"There are few people in public life who, through thick and thin, rain or shine, stick to their principles," added a congressional colleague. "Ron Paul is one of those few."

Sounds like the man for the job.  He was a Veteran, An Airforce Flight Surgeon, an Obstetrician who delivered over 4000 babies in his career, and has been married to the same woman for 51 years.  Of all the corrupt assholes on Capital Hill, Ron Paul, in every way of his life, has never compromised his beleifs or principles for anyone.  Even the entire congress.  (Dr Paul has been the sole no vote in congress more times than all other congressional members added together.  Thank God.)
