Nice tutorial! Definitely explains the basic ideas for playing with pusher well. Only things I'll add:

White blocks: They DO continue and improve your chain (that is, a white block hitting the bottom/disappearing counts as a "match" as far as chaining goes), BUT they also block the clear board bonus. So be careful when picking them up; don't pick one up if you already have matches on the board and a high chain bonus and/or are planning to make a big match (where the 100% bonus far outweighs the 2000 bonus of the block).

Clear board bonus: I think you under-emphasized this in general. Yeah, chaining is extremely important and all, but the 100% clear board bonus is what makes Pusher competitive against Pointmen and Erasers. This is especially true on high traffic songs, where there's a good chance that you will be able to quickly produce a match after clearing the board and thus not lose your chain.

Whoo, nice tutorial.  Unfortunately, I suck too much to grasp such skill.  All my eggs are in the eraser.

To me, pusher is like Dhalsim from Street Fighter 2.  Awful character, but if you know your moves and practice a lot, you're unstoppable.

You may have started a New Audiosurf Order.

Ha! He's my favourite char, and the only ever time I completely the game was with him. Against Bison at the end, because he goes up in the air, I could only do it 'cause of his long-range arms and legs. :P

Good god.  After watching this again, I now realize that pointman can pick up multiple blocks.  This changes EVERYTHING.

Only on Elite I believe. I played some Pointer on Casual and every time I tried to pick up a second block, the one I was already holding got pushed down into whatever column I was in.

I really liked the bit about continually holding left mouse, I'll have to give that a try.

Sorry, still can't use pointman either.  I've been spoiled by eraser's ability to remedy my fuckups.

Ok, I'm hooked on Pusher.  Eraser is more boring to me now.  I'm not that good though.  I'm crawling up the rap ladder right now.  Gotta keep it slow until I gain more experience.  I know I'm improving because I have world records with Busta Rhymes, Kanye West, and a few others no one is competeing for.  My old eraser scores I can't even come close to though.  All in due time, I guess.

I'm learning, albeit slowly.

I never really liked the this kind of strategy for pointman. It seems counter intuitive to avoid all the hot colours and power ups. I think the fact that these bonuses are all hidden under the hood is what discourages people from playing the puzzle modes. In mono it is obvious from the first time you play what you need to do to get the best scorers. In the coloured modes, especially pointman it is not. I think the scoring system should be simpler.

Thankyou for the guide though.

It's obvious that in order to get the maximum score with mono you have to miss certain strategically chosen blocks?

This gives the game a certain depth that (I feel) Mono doesn't have. If puzzle character scoring was as cut-and-dry as Mono's, I don't think the puzzle characters would be anywhere near as fun to play as they are now.
