Possible bug(or maybe I'm just clueless idiot...)
« on: January 12, 2008, 01:32:09 am »
In few words:
1. I can't choose my own music. A the selection screen, with my mouse only "My music" folder enlightens, but nevertheles I can't acces any of them. I have Vista Home Premium and I tried running as Admin and emulating as WinXP, bu none of them worked.
2. When the track loads, I cannot by any means move forward(only sideways with my mouse; cursors on my keyboard also don't work), because I have "Respawning" sign on the screen all the time. I have tried pressing different keys both on keyboard and mouse, but it haven't worked.

My notebook is HP Pavilion Media Center Notebook PC dv6530ew (GQ260EA#AKD) http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/pl/pl/ho/WF06b/1090723-4517487-4517489-4517489-4517489-13078062-80467858.html?lang=pl&cc=pl, with the difference that I have 2x1GB Kingston Memory.

Please Help and Thank You in advance,
                                                                                                                          HTS

I have same problem, I cant choose my own music, and I cant move properly. So, It's actually kind of impossible to play the game.

UPDATE: Okay, so you can fix this by, not emulating Windows Xp, but instead, emulating Windows 98/ME.

It seems that the problem is back because I reinstalled the game, no idea why this happens. Win98 emulation didnt seem to work this time.

Hi--I'm not sure what's going on with your music selection--I'll let Dylan respond to that one.  But as far as not being able to move forward--yup, you're not supposed to be able to move forward or back in the game--just side to side. The reason is that then your car won't hit things precisely on the beat--we needed to hold the position of the car constant.

Okay, I just thought something was wrong about that because in tutorial there is an arrow that points forward when you are told to try movement.

Yeah, that confused me as well, but i think the fixed vertical movement is the best.

C/Program Files/Audio-Surf

Aww sorry, my explanation was misleading. I'm saying that my car doesn't moving at all on its own: the song plays normally and I can move sideways, but the car is standing at the start point and doesn't fell like moving forward at all ;)(also there is a "Respawning" sign, which shows up right at the beginning and lasts till the end; it just doesn't fill up).

Wolfgang's suggestion (setting to Win98/ME) fixed my problems and the game works like charm (so far). Also, just in case I gave the game admin's rights(from my experience, Vista's UAC is usually the reason of "inability" of programs to open files, save games etc.)

You are totally right I can see that would be confusing--we'll take out the up arrow on the tutorial page.  We just thought we'd put that in there to indicate it was the arrow keys we were talking about, but you're right--has the potential for confusion.
