Backgrounds
« on: May 20, 2009, 03:14:28 pm »
What's a good site for cubemaps and skyspheres? I'm trying to find backgrounds similar to those of F-Zero, pararamas set miles above the Earth's surface. I've found a few images but all of them would create seams. I saw a couple of Youtube vids with some backgrounds from mapsking, but he didn't list the sources for them

Also, would it be possible to make slopes steeper - not actually changing the core of the game, the speeds would be the same and everything I mean, but just having slopes that get closer to 90 degree inclines so the whole background can be seen.

Cheers

There is not as of yet a site for, really, any of the Audiosurf texture replacements other than here that I know of.

[as-bankcam] might be what you're looking for in the other thing, but then you're only competing with others who used that tag also.

Yeah, I can't see Antarctica on my Map-Of-The-WorldBackground.

I think he actually means that the slopes should get steeper vertically, not horizontally like what [as-bankcam] offers.

If you would like, I'd be happy to upload all of my skyspheres I've made, they are all converted to the same image size, but with the skysphere creation tool, it makes it more simple.  Just let me know, and I can .zip them all up, and provide a link.

Thanks, Mapsking

I've been asked to upload all of the backgrounds I used in my two background showcase video, so here is a link to them.  It is a pretty good size file (93 MB or so), as these were all converted to higher resolution .png files before the skysphere creation tool came out, so all you'd need to do if you wish to use them is rename them to the appropriate name in the folder.

I hope someone gets some use out of them, or enjoys them.
