Loads of people cut bits off their cards or mod them to fit better.....

It's not uncommon for people who know what they're doing, mainly people going for insane overclocks.

i could see how chipping some of the excess board(like say one of the screw holes on the corners) could work for certain things.

Yeah, but you probably don't want to go cutting off GPUs*.

*Or was that the heatsink?  Sorry, I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to graphics card parts.  I usually know what I'm talking about.

it looks like he shaved off part of the interface to make it fit in an AGP slot rather than PCI-e
