Impressions of Beta 2
« on: January 19, 2008, 06:03:38 am »
OK, we're at T+ 2 hours and counting.

Do we get an extension of the weekend because of MLK day?
I promise I'll play a bunch of gospel music on Monday :P

Now that most of us have had at least a whole TWO HOURS to play, what's changed? What do you like about Beta 2 more than Beta 1? Did you like Beta 1 better ect. ect.
Discuss.

Pro Mono. It's like doing a free-ride but it means something. Good fun.
Angry ranting man.

Will edit when I have more observations.

Oh god smaller text is greatly appreciated

Menu music should loop, I think. I always notice when it suddenly stops when the track ends, just think it should instead loop over again for consistency.

Ninja Mono character information: Shuriken is misspelled.
Ninja Mono also: It is never mentioned how left-click is a 'collect all' function

Length of jump should be determined by BPM, on fast songs you'll glide over 5+ notes

I think this is triggered from alt+tabbing out, whenever I jump back in game now I have kind of double vision momentarily. It'll disappear back to normal about 20 seconds afterwards randomly.

Hmmm need to be able to navigate the menus with the arrow keys and enter button. This'd be amazing on my media center, but ive only a remote with arrow buttons etc.

Small text is a godsend for my long file names, but an ID3 viewer might be better?

This is my first version so I don't know if this was changed, but some of these curves are extreme. I love them, but some are so sharp that I can only see two of the three lanes. For anyone interested, the most obvious example of this I found is on Streetlight Manifesto's Down, Down, Down to Mephisto's Cafe.

Also, make this game less addictive. I was suppose to be asleep six hours ago.  :)

Casual mono's description on the char select screen looks out of place compared to the rest because of the caps.

I'm blown away. A visualiser that truly provides an experience for the music and thensome!

It's a shame the drm prevents playage and I think of the people that do this drm were to allow tech to play it they'd charge stupid fees. Thankfully that isn't necessary thanks to other methods that allow us to use our music.

The great thing I found is, all types of music are interesting. Usually one would think only the musically heavy tracks would provide a true visual experience but that isn't the case.

I wish I was following this from day one, feels like it might have been quite a ride. :)

My only gripe is that I need to get me a video compression software quick to share my videooos.

Edit: I do have another one but I realise that would be hard to sort out and that is the same songs played under different file names and thus diverging the scores. It's also possible these tracks differ slightly but I doubt it is too much of a deal since this feels more about enjoying the experience of your own music.
